“Very nice property”
Reviewed August 31, 2013

As I start all reviews, please take a look and see how many hotels I've reviewed, I'm not a jaded one time traveler. I travel often and feel I have a good base to write a good overall review.
We stayed at this property in the middle of a large renovation in February. The staff overall seemed to handle the challenges they faced very well. We were in Chicago for a conference with several of our staff. We had a 3 rooms booked on club level. The rooms was very well appointed but the bathroom was small.
The only area of disappointment was the Club. It was VERY small and often crowded at breakfast, evening cocktails were good but food choices didn't change much during our week stay. The club in general had a tired dated look and would suggest a reno. One reason I enjoy staying on club level is the personal service, this also lacked. We were never called by name or even recognized upon our return.
Yes, parking is stupid expensive I believe we paid $50/night. Its Chicago and that is pretty much standard.
Overall it met the my expectations of a Hyatt Regency.
I expect us to attend the same conference in 2014 and expect to stay there again.

We arrived at the hotel after walking from the Amtrak station and was amazed how big the place was. We went up the escalator and looked around, we must have looked a little confused because we were immediately greeted by a staff member named Daniel. We told him that we were there a little early and had just came in to rest from the walk and would wait for our room to be ready. Daniel said that would be no problem and looked up our reservation. He said our room was not ready but that he would go ahead get us another room. We were there celebrating our 14 year anniversary. Daniel then said he was going to upgrade our room and give us a great view of the city. He even upgraded us to a private floor of the hotel. When we went into the room we were amazed by the view from our room on the 33rd floor. You could look right out on the river walk and see the Navy Pier. We went out to explore the city and when we returned we found 2 bowls of chocolate covered strawberries, a bottle of champagne and 2 bottles of water. In the lobby when you checked in they had 2 water jugs with sliced fruit in them. The water was so cold and refreshing.

The hotel also had 4 restaurants inside. We wanted to try the one that was called Daddy O's but it seemed to never be opened which come to find out later there was a different entrance other than the two doors that had nothing posted on them to use the other doors so we didn’t get to go there and try it. So we went to the Big Bar the first night where we were waited on very quickly and the food was great. The second night we went to the Big Bar again and was passed up by a waitress 4 times without being waited on but they helped a few other tables that was seated after us, so we left there and went to the American Grille, my husband and I split a meal so they brought us out 2 plates with the same portions.

So other than the rude staff at the Big Bar on that Thursday night everything was great. Very clean and spacious rooms and friendly staff. Well visit in the future.

Stayed here for 3 nights for a conference. Lobby and accompanying restaurants and bars are aesthetically pleasing. The food was by far the best I have had at a hotel bar. It is within walking distance to the shops on Michigan Avenue and a short walk to Navy Pier. Views were ok. Price was good. For hosting a convention, this would be a great choice. However, for couples or those desiring to be closer to Michigan for shopping, etc. another property may be more suitable.

We stayed in this hotel for only 1 night on our visit to Chicago last year. Overall, a nice place at a good location
1. Room - room was nice and comfortable and we got a room with a very good view overlooking the river. A bit dark but functional.
2. Hotel is quite large so has all the facilities that you need
3. When we went there it was quite overcrowded so check-in and check-out was very time consuming. It also meant that storing luggage at bell-desk took a lot of time.
4.

Two towers of massive hotel....not charming...but comfortable. Room had been renovated and was quiet. Front desk service in each tower was friendly and efficient. Price point was good...particularly given the good location on the river.

We lost a small bag in the room when we checked out. I have tried contacting the Lost & Found dept for the last 3 days without any success. The reservation desk person was so rude that she hung up my calls multiple times.
