“Great Location and Staff ; Good Value”
Reviewed August 9, 2010

Location is ideal - walking distance to many of Chicago's top destinations and public transportation. The RedLine to Wrigley is one block away. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. Rooms were recently refurbished and very clean. Complimentary, cooked to order breakfast was delicious. Would highly recommend this hotel for business or pleasure.

Price was lower than other comparable hotels. Have stayed at the Marriott on Michigan and paid much more for much less satisfactory accomodations. Beautiful atrium in the center, FANTASTIC COMPLEMENTARY full service breakfast, great location just 3 blocks from Mag Mile and easy walk to Water Tower Place/American Girl. Quieter than staying on the main drag. Also, a supermarket right across the street so you don't have to pay high hotel prices if you forgot something. Saw the Courtyard and Comfort and was so happy we paid a little more and stayed here instead. Clock was set to wrong hour (1 hour fast) w/ no apparent way to reset and parking was pricey.

I've stayed twice at the Embassy Suites Hotel Chicago Downtown. The best thing about this hotel is the size of the rooms/suites. They are really spatious and confortable. Appart from that, the rest is more or less what you expect from a hotel in this price range: correct staff, clean rooms, good breakfast, a tiny swimmingpool and an adequate fitness studio.

The inner hall, with a water fountain gives the hotel a nice touch. On the negative side, on my second visit, I got a room with a wonderful view of the parking building next to the hotel. If you can, ask for a room on the East (front) side of the hotel!

All in all, I would recomend this hotel to families with children, or people staying in the city for a long period but who can't be bothered to get an apartment. It's very well located, and the rooms are so spatious that you won't feel packed and anxious to leave the hotel.

I travel to Chicago frequently and had used another property that was closer to my office...not again. This is a great property with a Starbucks and a fabulous Italian restaurant on either corner. A quick walk to the great shopping areas that are downtown. You would be remiss not to eat at Osteria Via Stato on the ground floor...even Chicago natives rate it among the top two Italian restaurants in a great foodie city. Weber Grill and a local grocery store are on the next block. Access to the train one block away and easy 15 minutes to Wrigley Field. One note -- this hotel does have a few rooms that aren't suites and I mistakenly reserved one, but the front desk cheerfully and immediately put me in a suite when we realized the problem. This hotel also has outstanding service, especially in the happy hour and breakfast service.

If you've stayed at Embassy Suites before, you'll know what to expect. You pay a premium for the downtown location, but you can't beat the convenience to Michigan Avenue, the theatre district and Navy Pier.

Room was very clean and up to date. Valet parking and bell staff were friendly and prompt.

My family and I went to Chicago last month as our annual summer vacation. We had a pretty hectic time trying to find a place to stay, at first. There were so many hotels, and so little time! Finally, we decided to stay at the Lombard Embassy Suites, about 20 minutes from Downtown Chicago. However, when we found that this hotel was right in the middle of Downtown, we switched our reservations right away. We couldn't have had a better trip. Seriously folks, this is the place to stay in Chicago.

Everything was very clean when we stayed. The beds were nicely made and the sheets were clean and soft, which many hotels have troubles with. You could tell that the carpet had been cleaned and vaccumed. The bathroom didn't shine, but it was clean as well. You could tell that the hotel tried hard to put its best foot forward as far as cleanliness goes. The lobby and atrium were spick-and-span.

The staff was the nicest hotel staff I've ever encountered. Everyone was all smiles all the time. By the end of our 4-day trip the staff knew our names and always greeted us on our visits to the parking garage. The parking is convienient as well, but costly ($44 a day).

The location was the best part of our stay, and what makes the hotel most convienient. We walked most everywhere in Chicago, and this hotel is right smack-dab in the middle of downtown, only about a block and a half away from Michigan Avenue. We felt extremely safe and comfortable walking everywhere downtown, and the hotel was easily accessed when we forgot a water bottle or were caught in the rain.

In addition, the hotel has a pool for kids. The pool is small, but is enough for 6-7 people to play comfortably. There is also a business lounge, which was a savior for checking e-mail and Facebook. Access to the lounge and pool is free with reservations. Also, hot breakfast is served every morning, and there is something down there to suit everyone. They have cereal, fruit, coffee, milk, hashbrowns, eggs, sausage, bacon, and custom-made omelets, plus other things. Every night there's a Manager's Reception that offers free appetizers to guests (while we were there, they had fried vegetables and salsa chips). I personally did not use the fitness center, but from what I could see, it was large enough.
