I'm not a fan of posting poor reviews but I'm afraid the Congress deserves it from its shabby decor to its woeful management (in our experience), its purportedly shoddy poor treatment of its staff (it showed) and its extremely poor value for money. The only positive it would appear was its excellent central locale and its faded glory of the past.
One of the basic tenants of human life is to be warm and admittedly one wouldn't expect to be cold in Chicago in June but we arrived on a freezing Chicago night. Our archaic heater was not on upon arriving to our room nor was it possible to turn on. We inquired with reception who replied that they had just turned it on so we waited in our four layers of clothing. Nothing. So we inquired again and they then passed the buck to house keeping to see if they could arrange a portable heater, sorry we're all out (surprise surprise) but we can offer spare blankets. I'm sorry if you're paying $250.00 for a room I expect to be warm and comfortable and I'm sorry Congress you failed. To add further insult when I enquired in the morning to management, they informed me that from June onwards, the whole heating system is turned off so why the lies in the first place.
You have been warned avoid at all costs.More
