“Overnighter Went Well”
Reviewed August 11, 2013

Wife and I did a turn and burn from Chicago and decided to stay here again. This is our second visit to this hotel and the service was par for the category Marriott Hotel. The only downsides were the leaking shower and no fan to withdraw moisture from the small bathroom. Also, the $54 plus tax for valet parking is almost unbelievable. But I witnessed it so it's not. The location is on the mile so you can't go wrong there... We had a nice city view on a higher floor which met my request. Would stay again and video on YouTube channel. Thanks for reading.

I come to Chicago often to visit my son. Tyrone Brown at the elite desk goes above and beyond to make my visit terrific. He is the reason I choose to stay here. The location on the Magnificent mile is central to everything. There is nothing like a Marriott and this location is superb.

Nothing special - standard Marriott, clean, good service, nice location very close to all main shopping centers - very good for business trip, good WiFi, good food in restaurant downstairs. There is a pool on the last floor

Marriott Hotel provides a lounge just off the lobby along with 3 restaurants. The Restaurant serves American cuisine in a casual setting for breakfast and lunch, while Steak House features Midwestern cuisine for dinner only. 20+ conference rooms offer 50,000 square feet of event space and banquet facilities. Of special note is the hotel's Suite, decorated with gold leaf trimming and chandeliers, used for formal events.

This hotel is right in the center of Chicago's mag mile. It is conveniently located near the restaurants, attractions, etc. It is convenient to Ohare and Midway, as well. The rooms are very nice and comfortable. They are small, but, this is downtown Chicago. The rate was fair for the area and season. The staff was very nice and professional.

I often travel for business, and since ODR is convenient we meet there frequently. Typically we stay close to the airport, but decided to move in-town for this meeting. The stay in Chicago was a very nice way to mix business with a little pleasure, and experience this great city. Easy train ride or shuttle from the airport, and the transit system is a safe and reliable choice. However, do plan the transport time accordingly: it can take an hour or more, and you may not feel business ready after the journey. The recommendation to take the train and walk to the hotel with luggage and laptop/briefcase might be ambitious for some business travelers. Cabs are also available at the train station, and there are airport shuttles available. That said, if you want to skip the gym, pack light, wear comfortable shoes, and enjoy all the sights and sounds of Chicago. The location is perfect if you want to explore the city and have limited time to do so. The room was clean, neat, and comfortable for one business traveler. The lobby/bar/reception area was buzzing with non-stop activity.. The meeting room was good, but there was a bit of a disconnect on our pre-ordered lunch-- food arriving at different times and not as ordered, for some, with an awkward wait for simple items. As with all Marriott property, wish for better in-room coffee.

We recently stayed at this Marriott for four nights. Not being familiar with Chicago, we hoped we had chosen well, and we did! It was an easy (and inexpensive) train ride from O'Hare and we were smack in the middle of downtown with so much to see and do. We were steps from the stair pass to the Navy Pier trolley, a 3-minute walk to Chicago River and we could see so much from our 41st floor room: the beautiful Chicago Tribune tower (which is gorgeous lit up at night), the awesome Trump Tower (one of our favorite buildings), Wacker Drive and the river. The hotel has a Starbucks in the lobby and there is another one on the street steps away. Marriott's Rush lounge is right in the lobby - it sort of IS the lobby - with lots of seating, a bar and colorful design.

Our room wasn't unique, but it was spacious and comfortable. We had two double beds and a nightstand, dresser, desk & chair, and upholstered chair with side table by the floor-to-ceiling window to the skyline. The bathroom was clean, but not huge, but not tiny either. Only one person at a time can get ready though, with having only one sink and about 18" of counter space on either side. The only negative I would say was that there was some noise from the elevators, so if you are a light sleeper, you might want to request a room further away. I put on the "sleep waves" on my iPad and I slept fine. Opening my eyes in the morning and seeing the sunrise on the skyline outside while still in bed was truly memorable!

Marriott's service was very good. I needed pants laundered and pressed and I dropped them off in the evening and had them delivered to our room the next day, perfectly done. We needed more coffee and cups and they brought them up to us quickly. Many times in other hotels we have to either wait an hour or make a second request when we need something.

We discovered after the first shower that the water didn't drain properly and filled up quickly around our ankles. We told the front desk on our way out the next morning, and when we returned, not only was the drain repaired and spotless, but we had a nice handwritten note from Reggie, the maintenance engineer, thanking us for allowing him to repair it and he left us 3 cards for complimentary drinks and pastries at Starbucks. That really made an impression. Guests are quick to complain about things and we could have easily left a negative review about the drain problem. But things can and will happen and it's not really fair if guests just complain and don't allow the hotel to correct it. In this case, they were apologetic, offered us either a new room or repair (we chose to stay in the room), fixed it immediately, and thanked us, as if we did something for them. Great service, Marriott!

I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting Chicago.

Room Tip: A high floor will give better views. The elevators are noisy, so you might want to request a room a...
