Spent one night here with spouse on a business trip. Received room #1579, a sort of parlor room that would be a part of a hospitality suite. Room is with a king-sized Murphy bed, sofa, chairs and coffee table, and wet bar. Room was spacious, clean, bed was very comfortable with very nice linens. Bathroom had Peter Thomas Roth amenities and plush towels. Love this room, love the Hilton. Staff are helpful.

Executive Lounge features light appetizers during Happy Hour with honor bar for alcoholic drinks. Morning breakfast is oatmeal, hard-boiled eggs, pastries, fruit, coffee, tea, juices. Certainly enough to get you started for the day.

Hotel located near Shedd Aquarium, Field Museum and Soldier Field. Train (El) stations nearby. Look forward to returning!

This hotel has it all from great customer service to great food, and shopping. The architecture was amazing, view of the city awesome and overall experience was great. I would recommend this hotel for any business conference or for a nice family stay.

Had a nice stay over memorial weekend. Staff nice, beautiful surroundings. Spent a lot of time out of the hotel to sight see so didnt use amenities. Rooms super comfy. Caution if you ask for lake view, the set up of the building has inlets and blocks side views. The lake view rooms themselves tend to allow noise to travel up and down between rooms as they are single juts out.

Room Tip: Asking for higher room doesnt mean better here. Make sure you get a lake view room on the outer port...

Easy check-in experience, love the layout of the hotel. Confusing hallways (it's big!), but had a few different rooms and didn't mind the different views. Right on Michigan Ave only a few blocks south of downtown! Nice to be right across from the park as well.

Love the fitness center, pool, and outside deck on the 8th floor. Rooms had a nice layout and very comfortable beds.

Whoever was working behind the Hhonors desk (can't remember her name, but she has been there for 8 years) gave me superb service on Sunday morning.

Room Tip: When checking in ask if you can pay for any upgrades. Depending on availability you can tag on some...

Staying at the Hilton Chicago is like taking a spin in your friend's 1962 Mercedes. Yes, it lacks some of the in-room creature comforts of newer hotels, but the ambiance, nostalgia, service and location make up for it and then some. Cab ride from Midway airport was about $30. Lots to walk to nearby.

I stayed as part of a business conference. Got up early (5AM) and took a run through Grant Park, along the shoreline to Navy Pier, back and around through the Museum campus. 7+ miles. If you're a runner (or a walker) this is a great route. This location puts you right in the mix with easy access to wherever you want to go and explore.

Staff was great. I forgot toothpaste and they sent up a care package. Ate in the restaurant and the food was great, service was good. The Starbucks snack shop downstairs is very convenient for "grab and go" stuff and light meals/snacks. Our catered convention meals were ok, nothing great, but good enough.

My room was on the 21st floor, "Executive" rooms. It was a standard sized hotel room, small cramped bathroom, old (obviously), view was ok, bed was comfy. Internet was plug and go and very fast (for the extra fee).

My wife loves museums so I plan to bring her for a return trip someday to stay a few days and spend time exploring museums and take in a Cubs game. But this is also the type of historic hotel where you can spend time just wandering through, taking in the architecture and photos, reading some of the history. The room itself won't spoil you, but everything else will.

I stayed at the Hilton Chicago for a tradeshow business trip happening at McCormick. The location is great and on-site hotel services are plentiful too: FedEx business center, well-stocked gift shop, several on-site restaurants to choose from, and efficient and friendly valet parking. Though the service is there, you'll pay for it. I had a some packages shipped in and ended up having to pay $400+ to have the 8 boxes delivered to my room. However, with a hotel boasting some much history, the rooms feel, and smell, old. I stayed in a king room that was quite cramped and just old-feeling. It honestly reminded me of my grandma! The hotel is huge (not casino huge) and it takes some decent travel time just to navigate through the dim halls. I would have liked the option of pre-ordering breakfast room service on the door card (like most modern hotels do), but you have to call in for it. There is a desk with a PC (incl a USB port) that you can surf the net and do basic word processing. That was a nice, yet pricey, touch. Overall, the room was acceptable and there were enough business services to make it a good business trip choice.

There are many hotels like this across the country. The Grand Dames that were the go-to places in their day. They're mammoth and ideal for parties, proms, conferences. They are architecturally awe-inspiring with their granite columns and grandeur. They're also tired, a bit dirty and have creaking elevators. The Hilton Chicago is one of those hotels. The carpets need to be replaced. The rooms need to be updated. The addition of large-screen, plasma tvs doesn't do accomplish what is needed to bring this "lady" back. She needs some plastic surgery. But, that's expensive and probably won't happen. If you've stayed at any other hotel of this ilk, you don't need more info. You either love it, hate it, respect it or stay elsewhere.

Room Tip: Try to stay on the concierge level.
