Stayed at this hotel one night as we didn't find any available option (at a reasonable price) in Chicago. The location seems safe and the room was average. Not good, not bad! Large and comfortable beds. The room was clean, but my towel had a body hair on it. Free wifi and breakfast. The staff was friendly and service-minded. We woke up at 4AM as some others guests decided to scream and shout in the hall outside our room...
We went for a walk to the zoo in Lincoln Park. Can really be recommended! A free zoo with so many different animals!?

Overall an OK hotel, the price should be a lot lower than comparable hotels downtown if I am going back.

Had a 2 night stay and were upgraded to business room which was very roomy - included fridge, microwave & free water, popcorn & cereal bar. The bed was really comfy. Free WiFi and continental breakfast are included. The front desk staff were friendly and very helpful with restaurant recommendations. Located in Lincoln Park neighborhood which has a lot of restaurants and bars, Trader Joes & plenty of Walgreens. Approx 1 mile walk to Wrigley & Lincoln Park zoo and a couple blocks to CTA brown line for easy access to downtown. Would definitely stay here again.

OK, let's get the snobbery out of the way first. Generally, a Days Inn isn't a place I'm going to seek out in a big city. Off a highway or near an amusement park perhaps, but not in the heart of the big city.
Proof positive that assumptions and pre-judgements are never good.
I snagged a room at the Days Inn Chicago from Hotwire on a week where one of those big citywide conventions blocked out just about every room in the city. My fears about a Days Inn began to wane the minute I walked into the warm, attractive lobby, where I was greeted by the doorman, the bellhop and the front desk staff. Check-in was quick and pleasant.
The pleasant surprises continued when I opened the door to the room. It was compact but with well-utilized space, and basic but attractive. The full-sized bed was quite comfortable, the work desk was fine and the flat-screen television featured a nice selection of channels. The bathroom was also compact but more than adequate, with a walk-in shower (a big plus with me). WiFi access was included with my rate, as was a quite decent buffet-style continental breakfast.
From the small elevator, to the non-cookie cutter layout, to the busy breakfast room, the Days Inn has a European hotel feel to it -- a nice alternative to the ersatz chain hotels that dominate (including ersatz "boutique" hotels).
And perhaps the best feature of all -- location, location, location. It's in the awesome Lincoln Park neighborhood, close enough to downtown for easy access but without the crowds of working people, conventioneers and slow-footed tourists. There are plenty of good places to eat, drink and see in this part of Chicago's north side -- the dining is generally cheaper and better than downtown.
For transit access, the CTA Clark, Broadway and Diversey bus lines stop right next to the hotel, and the Diversey El station (Brown/Purple lines) is about a 3- or 4-block walk west.

This is the cheapest you'll find close to the loop. By "close" I mean a 20 minute ride on the brown line, but it was a breeze. Easy walk to station. Neighborhood is busy at night and I felt safe with my husband. Saw a lot of single women walking to and from stores so I'm guessing it's a safe area. Trader joe's and Chipotle right there. Rooms are very small- get a king sized room or upgrade to business room for extra space. Our queen room was cramped. But it was clean and surprisingly quiet for an old building. Breakfast is boring- bagels, waffles, toast, cereal. But it's better than nothing.

Room Tip: Had a room facing interior of hotel and it was quiet- street is busy and loud at night.

We stayed 5 nights at the beginning of September, and were very happy with our choice of hotel.

We relied on other reviews of this hotel which we had read in Tripadvisor, and found all comments were accurate and were therefore very happy with our choice of hotel.

The hotel is a little far from the centre of Chicago, and it takes some 45 minutes to reach the centre of the city, by either using a bus (right around the corner from the hotel), or a train (some 10 minutes walk from the hotel). The price of the comfortable room we were given, was much more reasonable than any hotel of a similar class near the centre of Chicago - and we had researched this matter in great depth.

The reception staff were extremely helpful with their recommendations as to which tourist attractions to visit, and how to reach these attractions.

Breakfast was adequate, but the breakfast room was a little on the small side, meaning we sometimes needed to wait for stable - but not for an unreasonable amount of time.

The room was not soundproofed at all, and we heard sirens of ambulances and Fire Engines every night - although we did sleep very well on our comfortable bed.

We agree with the reviews of other members, and definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting this wonderful city.

We are very happy we listened to other reviewers of this hotel, and very much enjoyed the excellent musical "Million Dollar Quartet" - whih was only a 20 minute walk from this hotel

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the main street the hotel is situated on

The hotel is clean, comfortable and the area is convenient. There is a Trader Joe's close and many restaurants close by. It is also close to the "L" so transportation is a breeze. The breakfast is "just okay". Warning - if you like a bath I think you are out of luck. My room only had a shower. I don't know if they have any rooms with a bathtub as I didn't ask. The staff was friendly.

This is a great place to stay for the cost: (1) it is in a great neighborhood; (2) the rooms are small, but clean; (3) the staff is very efficient and kind; and (4) the breakfast is simple, but it has all the basics. I have stayed here a couple of times and have always had a good experience.
