“Conveniently Located”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 27, 2014

Got a very good pre-paid price though Groupon. The maid had finished cleaning the room, so we were able to check in early. (Very convenient, since we had tours and events scheduled all day.) We got WiFi in the room and didn't pay any extra. Several places to eat very nearby. Convenience store nearby. Elevators are a bit small, but there are 3 of them. Front desk was very polite. Room was average size for this price range in Chicago. Room was clean and water pressure in the shower was fantastic! (Usually in older high rise hotels in Chicago I have to stay in the shower forever trying to rinse the shampoo out of my hair.) 1 double bed was fine. The other had a significant low spot in it, and it seemed that everyone who'd ever stayed there had slept in the exact same spot. Made it difficult to get a good rest. Room was nice and dark and we were able to sleep in late. The location was near Navy Pier and everything else we wanted to do. The other couple traveling with us also liked their room.

We stayed at the Inn of Chicago for 2 nights in July 2014. The 2 bed room was OK, but the bathroom was really small. There were two of us, so the small bathroom wasn't a problem. It might have been if there were 4 in the room since there was no countertop around the sink and only 2 little shelves to store toiletries. The furniture was dinged and outdated. Good side was the beds were comfortable.

415Lyn- Thank you for choosing to stay with us. We understand that our guest bathrooms are smaller than your standard hotel out there, however, this is in part due to the fact that we are classified as a historic boutique hotel. Next time you return to Chicago, it would be a pleasure to welcome you back!

It's an older hotel but beautifully new inside. The beds are really comfortable and the location is great. Wifi costs money except in the lobby, but I was able to use free wifi from a building next door. It's a fantactic location.

I stayed here with my 16 year old son for 4 nights in room 2026--a corner room on the 20th floor away from the elevator. I found the staff to be very personable and helpful (especially Roxana at the front desk). Furnishings and carpet were older but the room was extremely clean and the bathroom was sufficiently large. Being on the 20th floor minimized the street noise and although we could still hear the sirens from the hospital nearby, the A/C fan provided enough "white noise" that our sleep was not disturbed. We did not have a single problem with slow elevators; as a matter of fact, the elevator door was almost a little too fast! Also, the hotel washes their linens in the same detergent that Disney hotels used-- you cannot mistake the fragrance and it is heavenly.

We got to the hotel from O'Hare by taking the Blue Line to Washington, then crossing over to the Red Line to Grand, then walking the last 2 blocks. It took about an hour but only cost us about $10. We were a little surprised by some panhandlers on the subway making announcements asking for money from the entire car, then getting off at the next stop and running to the next car to repeat their request for money.

We used bus #146 to get to the Field Museum but the Chicago Marathon was going on that day so we had multiple delays due to closed roads, and they had to drop us off about 10 mins from the museum. Upside is, they didnt charge fare for that day. We also used #146 to get back from the Shedd Aquarium, and it is NOT a short ride (distance is not far but traffic and bus stops make it a long ride). Please be aware buses do NOT give change so try to have several one dollar bills and quarters with you if you are using the bus.

We used Uber 3 times in lieu of taxis. If you are referred by someone who has already used Uber, you get your first fare free up to $30. We got our first ride at no charge due to a referral and then my son referred me, and we got a 2nd ride, and then my son was awarded a 3rd ride for his referral. Uber saved us about $50 in taxi.

Housekeeping was superb. Our room was always ready and fresh when we got back at night.

Location was great but we underestimated how long a "real city block" was and ended up walking far more than we are used to. I guess we made up for it in how much we ate while were there!

Our opinion is that some prior reviews were way too harsh in their judgement of this hotel. If you are used to Ritz Carlton accomodations, don't set yourself up for disappointment by staying here. If you are happy with clean, comfortable surroundings, a friendly staff, great housekeeping, and great location, then DO stay here!

Room Tip: Ask for high floor to minimize noise and corner room for larger size.

The staff was helpful, check in was easy, printing boarding passes the easiest ever. I was expecting quaint until I opened the door to my room. Initially I thought ah, more European in size which is okay but the room needed serious updating and while clean, stained carpets, closets with curtains (on runners you would typically see separating patients in a hospital) instead of doors, overall dreary, poor lighting and small bathroom with little space to put toiletries (small pedestal sink) was not appealing. Still the shower had good water pressure and the water was hot, though the towels were small and thin. The shampoo and conditionar were nice. Additionally this was not made for business use--a single plug on a tiny desk for charging or power, not conducive to getting work done. I was glad I was only booked for a single night. And while the location is great for shopping and walking to my client, will likely not return

I was the organizer and planner for a convention that was hosted at this hotel this past weekend. The staff and event coordinators were very accomodating in working with us and a great help. The rooms were nice and the location was perfect. I would recommend booking a conference here again. The rooftop is very nice and the view is amazing, and overall everyone had a great experience at the hotel.

We had a wonderful experience with the staff at Inn of Chicago Magnificent Mile. It was very easy to organize our event. Everyone was extremely helpful and nice all the way. It was in a perfect location for us to get all we needed, and to find good place for dinners. We recommend for business and pleasure as well.
