“Great location but a fairly average hotel experience”
Reviewed April 29, 2013 via mobile

My fiancé booked us a stay here to celebrate my birthday in Chicago using Groupon. The service was very nice and accommodating since neither of us had really spent a lot of time in downtown Chicago before. They gave us great information on what was nearby (restaurants and attractions). The hotel is just a short walk to Navy Pier and we actually walked to Millennium Park and Shedd Aquarium from the hotel as well (longer walks but it was beautiful weather so totally worth it). The room was pretty much just a basic hotel room that was clean minus some mold in the bathroom. We had a nice view (we were on the 20th floor). Basically I think it is a nice hotel that is up to standard (nothing over the top amazing) that is in a great location.

We were very impressed overall with this hotel. It may not be for everyone, the room wasn't the high point, but overall, the hotel is a great choice. Location is crazy good, the lobby / concierge service is fantastic. We loved the the valet parking service, it was a good value. The little coffee place attached is great. If you are flexible with your room amenities yet want a great location, this hotel is a good choice. We would stay here again, no question.

If you do not plan to spend a lot of time in your room, this hotel provides great value for the location, a block off the magnificent mile and access to bus stop with many bus lines to get you wherever you need to go easily. The room and bathroom was small, but adequate and looked 'tired' for a traditional room décor and seem incongruous with the modern lobby décor. Bed was comfortable and storage space adequate for our needs, but was lacking in available outlets for the number of electronics needing to be charged. If you travel with a lot of cosmetics and/ or bathroom essentials, the two small glass shelves in the bathroom will be overflowing. I was most disappointed in the towels provided, only two very well worn bath towels that have seen better days and had to remind housekeeping the next day that we would like a full complement (bath and hand towels, face cloths, and bath mat), which we received, but the 3rd day we were back to 2 bath towels. For this reason and with housekeeping not thorough with discarding used cups and empting ice buckets I downgraded my rating.

Ice and vending machines are located on alternating floors. Take advantage of the rooftop terrace on the 22nd floor for a nice view of the magnificent mile and nearby skyscrapers.

There's no parking on site and expensive ($43/night) to use valet parking for in/out privileges, which we needed to do to get to an event outside of the city but would not recommend renting a car if you plan to be in the city for the duration as the public transportation system is very good to get around the city. Download the CTA app, which will provide you with the bus #, routes, wait time, and transfers from your current location to where you want to go.

This hotel is a member of the Choice Privileges group and will get free Wi-Fi and refrigerator (request) if you are a member of the loyalty group. I went through Priceline name your price, but later learned I could have gotten the same rate going through the website as a Choice member.

Surprisingly spacious and nicely appointed room (#1825), very clean throughout and a very comfortable (firm) bed. Wifi worked well. Quiet, no ambient noise from other guestsEasy check-in and check-out, staff pleasant and efficient (although didn't interact with them besides checking in and out). Only thing resembling a complaint is that the bathroom is small with little counter space. Great rate on-line (under $100/night for a double) especially considering the location just off N. Michigan. Walking distance to countless restaurants, shops, attractions; easy to access public transit; cabs plentiful. Coffee shop off lobby (Lavazzo) has great coffee and breakfasts; Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks other options just outside the front door. Didn't have a car so can't comment on parking. Surprised to find something this nice at such an affordable price in such a prime location, will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Rooms ending in -25 and -26 are corner units have two windows, adding extra sunlight and a great vie...

Young hotel with a good vibe, cool atmosphere and kind staff. My room had no fridge, they provided one straight away. Location is optimal, right on the heart of Chicago, steps away from Michigan avenue and Hubbard & State.

My two friends and I spent three nights at the Inn of Chicago, April 16 - April 20 2013. It certainly wasn't fancy, but for the money i paid, only $99 a night, I wasn't expecting anything fancy. My room was small but clean and the location was perfect. It was within walking distance of most everything I wanted to see.
Mark, the bellhop, was a fabulous help. He was very personable with a great smile. He made us feel as if he was glad we had chosen Inn of Chicago as our place to stay..Mark was also very knowledgeable about the area and gave us accurate directions and restaurant recommendations.

My husband had a conference at the hotel, so we got a discount for staying there. We booked, I later looked at reviews on Trip Advisor, and got pretty nervous based on some bad reviews I found. I decided we would follow through and stay anyway. The room was just fine and it was clean! We were very comfortable. The staff was very helpful and polite. The location was perfect! I felt the value we received was great, and we will be back. I would recommend this to the traveler who is looking for adequate housing, but not expecting the Ritz Carlton, like some of the reviewers pervious to me seemed to expect. I do not have low standards by any means, and I would say I was quite satisfied!
