“Great location and great price”
Reviewed January 22, 2013

You could not ask for a better location in the city of Chicago. Barely a block from Michigan Ave and with in walking distance of the train to get to Wrigley. We had a blast and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms are a little small, but if you are looking to stay in your room in Chicago then why go? We are looking to stay there again in August. I did see their prices went up a little which is disappointing but we will be back soon.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for his birthday weekend in January. I booked this hotel based on location and price. I requested a renovated king room (some are unrenovated). When we checked in, they put us in an unrenovated room, so we immediately called down to swtich. When I spoke with the front desk attendent, she said they could switch us; however, the renovated rooms were much smaller. I didn't realize they could get smaller than the room we were in, but no big deal, we would have rather stay in what we requested. The room is tiny indeed, so small that the TV is in the corner of the room, not in front of the bed (not enough space.) A smaller room does not bother me, we don't usually spend that much time in the room anyway. We do however, require a clean room. The room was very dirty. The carpet was extremely soiled and the bathroom had hair in the sink and shower. The renovated rooms were done extremely cheaply and are in need of renovation again. The lobby, elevators, guest hallways, and common areas are also not very clean. It looks as if they have a very poor house man/maintenane person, or none at all to clean those areas. We also had an issue the second night with noisy neighbors. We called down at 4:00am and then again at 4:45am to the front desk to let them know. Each time, they said they would send someone up; however, the noise continued for 2 hours until 6:00am. When we checked out the next morning, we let them know about the noise situation and they offered no discount or compensation of any sort. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to any one I know personally. There are several other nicer options in Chicago for about the same price.

We spend 2 nights there at the end of December. Location is very good just one block from Magnificent Mile. Hotel reception staff was very nice and helpful. Lobby was nice and clean. Free wi-fi only at the lobby. First we have room at 6th floor. Room was clean but small. Air condition system was little noisy. At the first evening our toilet flush system went broke and we get a new room at 10th floor. That room was 5time bigger that our last room(lucky us). We really enjoyed our stay. I don´t like fitted carpet but otherwise I liked that hotel very much! Quality-price ratio was very good!

GREAT location, a block from the Magnicifent Mile, we took the Metra all over the city! Quaint hotel, spent most of the remodel money on lower levels, so we got a rather dingy room but awesome view. Everything was very clean. Was expecting a nicer bath/shower to relax in, but it was fine. Bar is great, Giovanni was fun to talk to and stayed a little late to accommodate our night cap! Front desk was nice, though one guy told us no ice cream or coffee shops around aside from Lavazza... We practically turned around and saw a 24 he Dunkin Donuts. The staff didn't seem to be able to recommend things around the city. Held our bags most of our check out day- for free! That was extremely helpful. Overall, great value for our weekend getaway!!

We thoroughly enjoyed this hotel, especially the proximity to local activities- shops- and restaurants. We upgraded to a suite for a fee, which I thought was well worth the price.

Pro:
Clean hotel
Conveniently located
Walking distance to Navy Pier, Hancock Observation Tower, Millenium Park, Magnificent Mile. (3 stops away from Willis Tower on the Red Line).
Refrigerator upon request

Cons:
NO MICROWAVE, or access to one! If you need one cross the street to 711!
The downfall was our next door neighbors who were smoking Marijuana- the smell inundated our room. Because this suite had the option of adjoining to two additional rooms, these smokers felt it appropriate to knock on our door.

Had it not been for some of the patrons, I my stay would have been EXCELLENT. (Please bear in mind, the 4 star rating does not weigh this con into consideration)

Room Tip: Inquire about a suite update. Cost $20-30 in the month of January per night.

Dear warriorp,
Thank you for your review and sharing your list of pros and cons with us. We are happy you enjoyed our close proximity to the popular attractions in Chicago. However, we are disappointed to hear about your adjoining neighbors. Rest assured, these comments will be addressed with our Executive Committee, so that no other guest reports a similar occurrence moving forward. If given another opportunity, we would love to provide you with an excellent stay in the future.

My Husband and I stayed at the Inn of Chicago on December 15th, 2012. We booked the room on Hotwire and have always had good luck. We were immediately pleased with the location. the lobby was modern, yet the furniture was a little dirty (white leather chairs probably weren't the best choice). I thought to myself, it's just one night, it won't be too bad. We got into the tiny elevator and went up to our room. As soon as we opened the door we were horrified. The furniture was old and outdated as if it had come from a garage sale. The carpet was so filty we wore our shoes the whole night. The bathroom was disgusting. First of all, there was some blood on the wall and door, a ditry Qtip next to the trash and one of the outlets was not securely in the wall. We felt as if we were in the scene from the movie Just Married when they stay at a dump and a cockroach crawls on Ashton Kutchar's face. We will never stay here again.
