This hotel is conveniently located, just a couple blocks north of Michigan Ave (Magnificent Mile) on
Ohio Street - even walking distance to the Navy pier. Rooms were spacious and clean.
(Hint: Use the ironing board to keep the window drapes from blocking the a/c.)

The roof top patio is a "best kept secret" and offers fantastic view of the skyline and Michigan
Avenue
.(Hint: The hotel is just 3-4 blocks from a well stocked grocery store [Dominique's?] where
one can acquire groceries and wine and is also a decent place for breakfast at very reasonable prices. Pick up a nice bottle of wine and enjoy an evening under the stars.)

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the ice machine. The property contracts with Amtrak and the crewss come an...

The hotel itself is great in the lobby and bar areas although a little tired in the bedroom department. Could do with a bit of a spruce up but beds were comfotable, air con worked well and the staff were excellent. A special mention for the concierge who was extremely knowledgable about everything Chicago - you want something special, extraordinary, this guy can poiint you in the right direction.
The location must be one of the best in town, steps from the Magnificent Mile, 10 minutes walk to Big John, Millenium Park or Navy pier. River trips 200 yards up the road and guided hop on/hop off buses stop just by the river tours. Restaurants and bars in abundance on the doorstep, do not be deterred by the tired look of the bedrooms the location is perfect.

The actual hotel from top to bottom is nice, if you want a great view try the roof top (I believe it's more than 20 stories high), lots of space in the lobby to relax after a long day of sightseeing.

Unless you're actually on Michigan Avenue, you can't beat the location, you're within walking distance to just about anything and everything in Chicago. (Water Tower, Millenium Park, John Hancock Tower, Navy Pier, Upscale Shopping, Restaurants, etc...)

Once again, the rooms are small, no closet space, bathroom is tiny (even compared to New York, Paris and San Francisco standards), A.C. is extremely old and does not let you control the temperature so if there's more than 2 in a room it gets extremely hot, basic amenities.

Service was great, check in and check out was fast and smooth, Vic one of the bell boys really goes out of his way to make sure you're taken care of.

Chicago is expensive when it comes to hospitality, you're not going to find hotels with breakfast included, WiFi is extra in most hotels, parking as well so when it comes to finding a bargain closte to Michigan Avenue this is one of your best bets.

Overall, I would give this hotel 3 stars if it wasn't for it's location and rates.

Dear HotelRinconTarasco,

Thank you for taking the time of sharing your stay with us. Since we are known as an historical building, the rooms and bathrooms are not as big as it is in traditional buildings. We apologize for that. We are really glad that you liked our service, our location and our roof top. We hope to see you again soon.

Because some reviewers have bashed this hotel, we were a little apprehensive before our stay on 7/11 & 7/12 of this year, but the place worked out fine. Having been to Paris, I couldn't take seriously the occasional complaint about the "small" elevator & the room, though not glamorous, was clean & spacious enough. Of course we would have appreciated a refrigerator or microwave, but the re-habbing of an old property probably put constraints on the management. Anything you want is only steps away on the street: shopping, eating, sightseeing--you can't beat the location. One thing i fault them for, though: to have to pay for in-room wi-fi at this late date is incomprehensible. give us free in-room wi-fi (it's available in the lobby) & I'll bump up the review. Parking at $38 a night is steep, but this is a city. Same deal in NYC. So enjoy what's there, appreciate Chicago & hope the next time you'll be able to syrf in your room.

I have stayed at this property twice now, and will only stay at this location when I come visit again. Chicago is probably my favorite "Real American CIty". The location (Magnificent Mile), couldn't be better. Located near shopping, attractions, restaurants, and entertainment, you couldn't ask for a better place.
On top of that, the customer service is great. I have previously worked in the hotel business for years and can vouch how great their service is compared to other properties. Beautiful well kept and well maintained place, with great customer service give this place a 10 out of 5 for me.

The location of this hotel is excellent. We were able to walk to just about everything and if we didn't walk, it was a very fast & cheap cab ride. The hotel is clean and the staff is friendly & helpful. We arrived before 3pm but check-in was quick and our room was ready. Our main issue with this hotel was the size of the rooms. We were a group of 4 and we reserved a room with 2 double beds (we always do 4 in a room when we travel.) When we opend the door to our room we knew there was going to be a problem. It was so so small. There was no way 4 women were going to be able to share this room while trying to get ready etc. The beds were about 2 feet away from each other, there was almost no room to walk in front of the beds without bumping into the TV stand/dresser and the bathroom was tiny as well. I know that the reviews before me said the rooms were small but we thought - how long are we going to be in the room anyway? It didn't matter if you were only in the room for 5 min. They were SMALL. Having said that, the staff was very helpful when we requested a larger room. They let us look at a few rooms before we found one that suited our needs. We had to pay a small fee for the upgrade but that was OK by us, as long as we had room to move & weren't bumping into each other all weekend.
The roof top is amazing. The bar was closed for renovations but you could bring your own drinks up there. The view at night was beautiful.
If you are traveling alone or with just one other person, I would suggest the Inn for the value and location, but if you are traveling with a group of friends I would say spend a little more at a different hotel on the Mile for a larger, more comfortable room.

This was the second time we stayed here, and we happy again. The room was a little small, but to be expected in Chicago. There is a very cool roof top terrace, that I did not find out about until the second to last day, so make sure you venture up there. Great place and great value.
