“Wonderful food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 18, 2013

We went here at one of our friends' recommendations. We started with the scallop and scotch egg appetizers. Both were excellent. I had the ribeye and brussel sprouts and my husband had the sausage trio. He said he loved his meal. My steak was perfectly cooked and well seasoned. The brussel sprouts were a little too charred for my liking, but they were okay. The portions were big, which we weren't expecting, so we left with our bellies completely stuffed. We would definitely go here again.

“I'm coming back!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 17, 2013

Ate at The Gage before a theater performance with my adult children. I highly recommend advance reservations, as this place is popular. We arrived at 5:30 and were fortunate enough to get a table on a Friday evening before St. Patrick's Day.

Management of this restaurant knows how to get in the spirit. Irish rock music playing on speakers (not too loud). Special menu, with Irish beers. Finally, a bagpiper arrived to play. It was a great time!

Overall, menu is modern american with beef, chicken, seafood and vegetarian options. Great selection of craft beers and wines. Wait staff was very good. Food was excellent. I ate the fish and chips, and others enjoyed the risotto. The cheese fondue appetizer is great, too.

Overall, a warm, fun friendly environment with great food at reasonable prices.

“a very pleasant find”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 15, 2013

After a surprised cancellation, while on Michigan Avenue, we found our way to The Gage looking for a pre-theater dinner.
The restaurant was very accommodating, and the food was exceptional.
I had a saddle of elk which was just delicious. My dinner companions both had the duck which they thoroughly enjoyed.
The drinks were served properly, and the wine list was challenging with some good offerings.
The service was fine.
The restaurant seems very popular, and it deserves its patronage.

“Great Pub”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 14, 2013

The Gage is located across the street from The Art Institute and Millenium Park. We stopped here based on a recommendation from our hotel concierge. Great food, drinks and atmosphere. The spiked cider and Pirate's Tea were definite favourites. We will definitely be back.

“Great Food, Great Fun, Great Service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 13, 2013

This place delights every sense. The menu is unique and the food is second to none. The service is top notch, the place just feels "cool". Very vibrant and happening, with a large bar that has anything you could possibly want. Excellent for lunch or dinner.
