The restaurant is described as "Nuevo Latino." So, I was not sure what to expect but was extremely pleased with the choice. The food was extremely delicious. I ordered the tortilla soup and the Puerto Rican paella. I found the ambiance and service to be very good.

Since it is a bit out of the way, you get the impression that it's an old abandon industrial park area, which may be true but don't let that stop you from seeking out the restaurant.

This is a play to go again and again.

May Street Cafe has become on of my favorite spots to have dinner. The food is great and the drinks are wonderful. If it's on the drink menu when you are there try the Hybiscus Margarita. I am basically a red wine drinker but the Margaritas are better than good. i love the Quesadillas. Goat cheese and apples are so unique and so yummy. Everything I have had was top notch from beef to salmon. Desserts are also great. Try the flan and if you are lucky Mario will be serving Pumpkin Flan! Go, try ...you will love this place.

My and my spouse were very excited to try this restaurant. We read a good review so we had high expectations.

The minute we arrived we sensed an unwelcoming atmosphere. The staff didn't greet or bother to seat us. The chef /owner was sitting down at a table socializing, he glanced ast us when we walked in and continued with his conversation. After waiting several minutes we decided to seat ourselves. We also noticed that aside from two tables, the entire restaurant was empty on a Friday night.

We noticed that the menu stated that anyone sharing food must either order their own entree/appetizer or they will be charged a $6.50 fee. I think that is very tacky. It also tells me that they have such a problem with people not ordering their own food that they feel they must impose this type of rule.

We placed our order and the waiter told us that the restaurant would be closing in 15 minutes. We asked him if we had to leave and he said that we can still order. We felt rushed so we decided not to stay. On our way our we saw the chef again and told him that we are sorry but we decided not to stay because they are closing. The chef became very irrate and defensive. He questioned us as to how told us that. We informed him that our watier told us that. He responded by saying that no one is asking us to leave and that he is the chef and he decides who can stay.

At this moment we were debating on whether we should stay or go and the chef responded by saying "you don't have to stay, if you want to go, just leave, there are other restaurants in the area, there is a steak and egger down the block". At this point we felt very offended and told him that he was being rude. He responded by saying "I don't need to be insulted" Needless to say we left and will never come back.
