“Loved everything about the Newport Home.”
Reviewed September 2, 2013

We traveled with our two boys for birthday and university graduation celebrations over the Canadian Labour Day weekend. I had called Teri about booking a different suite and after learning a little bit more about our family, she talked me into the Clarke Suite on Newport , Teri was right. This was the perfect spot for our family. Our graduate could squirrell away downstairs ( with the most comfortable pillows he had ever used) and still spend lots of time with us.
When we walked in the front door we felt like we had won the lottery, it was gorgeous!!
The house was spotless with everything we needed. Teri had a huge binder with tons of Chicago hints in which made getting around easy, both the brown and red line are within a few blocks. We fell in love with Chicago and with this great neighbourhood. We walked as often as we could and other than watching the Cubbies win ( probably breaking the curse) we had great meals in Boystown, on Southport and in Wrigleyville, accompanied by great wine and a quick walk home. The train got us to most other places we wanted to see but we learned there is so much more to see than we could get in 4 days. We will be back and we will stay in one of Teri's beautiful suites.

Room Tip: Let Teri choose for you, she has a knack!!

As a native Chicagoan, I feel strongly about my home town, even though I now live in Colorado. Having just stayed at Teri's Guest House on Lakeview for a family gathering, I must say it is the kind of place that shows Chicago off at its best. If you really want to experience what it's like to live in this great town, stay here. You'll love the beautiful old building, located on a gorgeous street of brownstones. You can walk to Wrigley Field or hop on the "L" and pop downtown for some sightseeing, or just sit on the front porch and watch neighborhood life pass by.

The quality of the apartments we rented (1st and 2nd floor) was top-notch. Teri's thought of everything. Our entire family was situated comfortably. People were able to have their own space when needed or gather together easily in the large dining/living room areas for dinner and games. It made my father's 80th birthday an event to remember for the entire clan.

Thank you, Teri!

Room Tip: We were in the first and second floor apartments. They were equally lovely. The first floor unit i...

Came to Chicago for the Pearl Jam concert at Wrigley Field and I found Terri’s place for my friends and I. I’ve rented many places off VRBO, but this is one of the best places I have ever stayed at! I couldn’t have imagined anything better for our group. We rented both floors of this gorgeous home for six couples and had tons of space inside and in the backyard. Short, 5 minute walk to Wrigley and the Red Line. Kitchen was fully stocked with beautiful appliances, dishes and all the utensils we needed (we cooked a lot). There were even real wine and martini glasses! Beds were amazing with super soft sheets and pillows; backyard grill had plenty of propane and the showers were simply awesome. It was as if I was in my own home……but even better. Great restaurants and stores nearby but we didn’t have enough time to see everything we wanted. Everyone agreed that we should make this an annual trip just for fun and would definitely want to stay at this townhouse again. Oh, and Terri, the owner is fun and wonderful to work with. I highly recommend this place!!

We rented the first and third floor of this beautiful townhome and absolutely loved it. Tastefully decorated, impeccably clean, and well appointed accurately describes this home. The bathroom on the first floor is amazing! Looks like a bathroom you would find in the penthouse of a Four Seasons. The neighborhood is beautiful and we enjoyed walking around at night checking out the fancy townhomes. We sat out on the front porch and had wine in the evening. GREAT location. Easy walk to Wrigley Field, the L, grocery store, and many sidewalk cafes. Teri has the best "guest book" I have ever seen. It's a huge binder with a gazillion tips and ideas on where to go and what to do.
Cant wait to come back.

I was part of a group of 7 girlfriends who decided to vacation at the Chicago Guest House, August 1-6. We rented two floors of the Lakewood Avenue Address, the Shoreline on the 2nd floor and the Lakeview on the 3rd floor. The Wrigley suite had already been snapped up a year in advance! Anyway despite the walk up, the experience was great. We had plenty of room, each unit with it's own kitchen, dining and living area in addition to a total of 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, over the two floors all very clean and comfortable!

The decor is tasteful and homey, it's obvious the owner took care to make it inviting.

Even though we were in a older home, now a triplex, we had a nice compact kitchen with working dishwashers and laundry in our units. The washrooms were small but well stocked of towels and toilet tissue, and good hot showers!. 4 of our party drove from Canada, and although the ingress to the garage is tight, we were able to park our van for the entire stay. We used the convenient L train to go downtown, ( a few blocks past Wrigley field) or we would late night cab. Teri had left us binders with all sorts of useful information about transportation and shopping and restaurants.

We went to the Cubs game on August 2 only a 3 blocks walk away. After the game we decided to remain in Wrigleyville and BBQ and it was a lovely albeit warm night so we all sat in the comfortable Shoreline dining room for dinner. All the amenities were there, from wine openers to tablecloths, it was great not having to purchase these extras.
.
We all loved the free wifi provided by Chicago Guest House. One day the wifi was dropped
due to perhaps the renters downstairs changing out the TV so we called Teri and the problem was fixed by the time we returned from our sightseeing tour. All in all we highly recommend Chicago Guest House, especially convenient for Cubs fans, a lovely home on a leafy lined northern Chicago street. We felt as if we got a bit of the real Chicago, not just a hotel experience, but a place to call home while away from home.

Room Tip: The Wrigley Suite is most convenient on the main and lower floors.

We had the best 5 week stay at the Chicago Guest House located on Henderson. It's the perfect location for shopping, Cubs, El, restaurants, people watching, and walking. Also, it's only a mile off Lake Michigan so it's perfect for those looking for a running path, swimming, or sun. Terri, the property manager/owner, was fantastic. She was prompt with correspondence, always responding within 12 hours. The house was clean (with super comfy beds, sheets, and towels) and they even came to pick-up our laundry twice a week and it was returned the same day! My husband and I have traveled to Chicago every summer for the last 5 years, renting various VRBO properties and this location was by far our favorite. Thank you Chicago Guest House and Thank you Teri!

What an awesome property! If you've always wanted to see the Cubs play at Wrigley Field, this is the place to stay. As life-long Cubbies fans, we finally made the trek to Chicago and enjoyed every minute of it. This lovely home is within walking distance of Wrigley Field, great shopping, bars, restaurants, the lake front AND a few blocks from the train. You can get to all the hot spots from this location very easily. We visited Navy Pier, the Magnificent Mile, ate at Harry Caray's Italian Steak House, went to the Willis (Sears) Tower, went on the Untouchables Tour and the Wendella architectural boat tour. I regret that we couldn't stay longer, but we will definitely visit again. The neighborhood is absolutely charming. The place is extremely clean and the beds are comfortable. Not only that, but the walls are adorned with original paintings by the ower. Very tastefully decorated. It is a short walk to the grocery store, which made it very convenient to cook breakfast in the fully equipped kitchen in the morning before we took off for the day, and BBQ in the evening in the beautiful back yard. There were eight of us and this property suited us perfectly. It was a far better value as opposed to staying in a hotel. Teri, the owner, has truly thought of everything.
