We have eaten here several times and not yet had a bad experience. The small-plates concept works very well here. Love the pizza. The minted pea salad was tasty and unique. We love sitting outside, but the large doors make the inside enjoyable too. I love the interior decor, even if it's a bit forced. My favorite space is the upstairs - very airy and fresh. The bathrooms are an excellent impression of a 1950's European space with beautiful tile, frosted glass, and dark wood. Can't wait to go again.

The restaurant was noisy but the food well worth it. Staff explained the dishes well and offered to stage the meal. They watched your progress and timed the rest of the meal. And even though Friday night was very, very busy, they saw to it we were in and out in 45 minutes to attend a concert.

This place is a factory. It was recommended by our hotel concierge though admittedly only when asked the day before after I failed to book other stand by restaurants which were by then unavailable.

They have made some good efforts making a large chain into having some zippy decor and a festive atmosphere, But they pack you in and churn the tables….I would say sacrificing quality. Tables are very close together. Menus already on the table when you arrive. First service is almost too quick.

Of the tall stack of salad/appetizer plates presaged on the table, i had to hand back two of the plates to take away for having old encrusted cheese still on the plate after washing. This happens and didn't bother me ...but is a little evidence of a lack of care experienced throughout and how quickly they are trying to get everything done.

Arugula Salad was small and flat. Caprese Salad had two 1/2 inch thick slices of Bufala Mozzerella about the circumference of a lime. Dates wrapped in Bacon had dates that lacked flavor and bacon was limp.

Pizzas came quickly and were edible but not special. The touted thin crust was limp and too wet from the tomato topping. Crust was doughy but not flaky or flavorful.

Pappardelle al Sugo di Manzo (Tuscan Pasta Ribbons with Braised Beef Tomato Sauce) was flavorful but seemed to involve putting bulk pasta on a plate and scooping a small ladle of pre made stew on top.

The restaurant recommended $13/Glass Wine (Lazio IGT) tasted very much like house wine. Maybe i chose poorly. They have an extensive selection of wine types by the glass or other carafe sizes but i didn't notice the more recognizable bottles until after seeing another nearby table getting a bottle. Not confident though that i would have been more satisfied with the quality of any of the house wines…but maybe i would have.

All in all, this felt like a restaurant operated by an accountant.

We were served efficiently but impersonally and almost too quickly and were back on the street in what felt like too short a time.

They busy and battle tested guys (no women) bussing the tables were the most real and interesting if you took a moment to engage then in a brief exchange of conversation.

I would never go back. But i should have planned earlier and selected a different restaurant as a little research would have let me know what the restaurant was ….a high volume chain in a busy tourist spot. I got what i should have expected.

Absolutely Italian. You could not tell that this place is in Chicago. A very good example of having exported real Italian cuisine.

The food is spectacular, the vibe is classic and Chef John Coletta is a wizard. This place is a true experience that should not be missed.
