“Fun atmosphere, interesting menu”
Reviewed January 6, 2013

I have been here before and we enjoyed it again. It is Italian and the concept is to share various food items- pizza, cheeses, pasta, etc. We had a very good vegetarian pizza- you can order half and half of two kinds if you like, which had a very crisp crust and good ingredients. Three of us also shared a salad, a penne pasta dish, and a risoto dish, all of which were very good. They have a nice wine list, not extensive but nice. We also shared two desserts which were very tasty. There were alot of young adults at the restaurant.

“Nothing Special”
Reviewed January 5, 2013

In a city filled with great Italian restaurants I'm not sure why Quartino is always mentioned when a group wants to go out for Italian. The pros are that it is conveniently located and a fun atmosphere but the food is standard. Since they are "small plates" I was shocked to be charged $9.75 for plain pasta with butter for my daughter. The waitress asked if she would like spaghetti or penne and we chose penne. When we got the bill, the penne was a $1.75 upcharge on top of the 9.75. Seriously? It was about 2 oz. worth of pasta with butter. The Caprese salad is hard to screw up but I thought it was rather flavorless. The calamari was super greasy. The zeppole were also greasy. I will probably try it again as maybe it was an off night. I have friends that continually rave about it but I guess they don't have memories of eating at Nanna's like I do.

“Great food, Great service”
Reviewed January 2, 2013

We came here for our NYE dinner. We made sure to make reservations and we were seated quickly. The place was PACKED, but this did not affect the service or quality of the food. The staff was on top of it. Our food came out fast and our server was awesome. The portions of the meal are just perfect. The prices weren't too bad either (besides the drinks, but you are in Chicago, so that is expected). We can't wait to come back to Quartino!

“Love, Love, Love It”

Quartinos is a "must visit" for any trip to Chicago. We found it purely by accident 3 years ago and have never been disappointed with the food or the service. May it never change.
