“Friendly and clean”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

My stay at the Hampton Inn in Chicago (theater district) was a pleasant experience. The staff was so friendly and helpful. The rooms and lobby were clean and I felt safe. The bellmen made me feel like a VIP. Always with a smile and willing to help. I thought the price was a bit high but I am not familiar with other pricing in Chicago for similar accommodations.

Dear Torie G
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. Our valets are really nice gentlemen, so they would appreciate the kind comment from you. Downtown Chicago can be a little expensive, but when you think of the convenience and awesome location it makes it worth it for the most part!
On behalf of the rest of the staff here at the Hampton Inn Majestic, we thank you for your business and we hope to see you again when your travels bring you back to the area!

Location for theatre district can't be beat. Room was adequate, clean and quiet. Breakfast very good. We would do it again. Bet most people don't even know it is there right above the Bank of America theatre.

The Hampton Inn Majestic is conveniently located in the Chicago Loop. Fantastic restaurants are located nearby as is Grant Park. I have been staying here for business purposes each month for the past two years and I would not consider any other hotel. The entire staff is professional and friendly, breakfast is awesome and the rooms extremely comfortable. The hotel is quiet as there are only 9 rooms on each floor.

Dear Steven P
Thank you for taking the time out to review our hotel. We love being located in the south loop where attractions, food, and fun are easy to find. Grant Park being 3 blocks away is definitely a plus for our guests.

Full time business traveler: This Hampton is the large urban downtown type as opposed to the rural, small town Hampton. The 21 floor building appears to be one that was built many years ago. However, the inside is of a much newer feel/build (the outside is not unattractive, fyi). It is directly connected to the Bank of America theater. While I was there staying on business, if you are in Chicago to see a show there, I can see this being a fantastic hotel choice for the convenience. Again, this is within an extremely bustling city area. As expected, there is a lot of foot traffic and auto traffic. Parking is very expensive (not specific to this hotel, it is expensive everywhere). I strongly suggest using taxis unless you must have a car. There are a very, very numerous amount of places to eat, drink or buy market items with a few blocks (among other type establishments).
The lobby is not at the entrance. The entrance from the street is a small area containing the bellmen and 3 elevators. The lobby is an elevator ride up a few floors.
The lobby and attached breakfast area is in good condition. It is not of spectacular visual appeal but it is more than good enough. The front desk was friendly and helpful (without knowing their names, a young blond female and young dark haired male were very pleasant to deal with).
The elevators are small. They do require inserting a room card key to gain access to the floors with rooms. I wish they would go with the type of card reader you only need to wave the card in front of it versus inserting it. The hallways are not in new condition but they are in good condition. The room itself is small but that is something to be expected for hotels in huge downtowns like Chicago. The decor and feel of the room is good. I liked that two windows existed in the room (plenty of outside light/outside views). The bed was very comfortable. A/V was good. Relatively decent work space. Power outlet availability is, ummm, ok. Internet was ok. Environmental (heat/AC) functionality was not fantastic. Bathroom was good, hot water pressure was ok.
I would recommend this Hampton and give it 3 and 3/4 stars. It isn't your full service downtown high end hotel but it is a comfortable, solid downtown hotel.

Stayed for almost two weeks for a long business trip. Staff fantastic. Decor is drab but easy to overlook. Within walking distance of great shops, restaurants and Lake Michigan. Would stay again for sure. Price is lower than most other comparable hotels but service as good or better. Love the free Internet access.

Stayed there for 2 nights. I had arrived in the evening, taking the metro from O'hara via the blue line. The metro is located near the hotel. The crowd was just coming out of the next door theater, so looking a bit confused, the doorman guided me to the lift and informed me the lobby was a few floors up.
Check in was easy. Room was large and comfortable. Love the deco. The bed was clean and comfortable. Location was fabulous. A few blocks from the cloud gate.
I loved that they retained some of the historic feature of the building.
Would recommend this hotel.

Dear MzNomad,
Thank you for taking the time out to leave a review. Location is a key when guests are traveling for any reason. With Millenium Park being three blocks away, it makes it convenient for anyone who is here to enjoy viewing the Cloud Gate! Our building has been here since 1906, so it is pretty nice having some historical features still intact. We greatly appreciate your review and would love to have you back in our city and hotel.

Stayed here for 8 nights. Great location if you intend to use the "L" and busses to everywhere. Room clean and of sufficient size with comfortable bed, breakfast adequate, good security. Front desk staff is friendly and at your service - serve as concierge only friendlier. For transportation to and from airports, choose the "L" stations that show handicapped access in order to use an elevator with your luggage - staff seemed to want you to
