This restaurant is very nice. It has happy colors and for sure you feel as if you are in Miami or a tropical island. There are so many pictures of pretty, seductive woman. Where are the men, we would love to have a look every now and then. The food was really good. I ordered the Arrachera and the meat was very tender and well seasoned. Try the rasberry mojito, one of the best I had in a while. The only bad thing was the seating arrangements. But this was typical of all places in Chicago. There is not enough space and you sit very close to the couple next to you.
A little note to the restaurant - If you have plenty of nice tables that you can have your customers sit in - why place them at a bad one. Someone tried to sit us at the table that is right as we walk in where there is heavy traffic from everyone. Not a good move because if I see better tables that are empty, be sure that I will ask for a different table.

Carnivale had a very bright, ecclectic atomsphere, but the food was way overpriced for the quality and the service was poor. It was a birthday gathering with friends and none of us had been to this restaurant before and we were all disappointed. The food presentation was nice, but the food lacked taste and again was very overpriced for the quality.
Would definitely not return.

We tried their new Sunday Brunch last week. Bingo, a new must stop! Service was excellent, food outstanding and ambiance (including live music) A+. I love the attention of their managers who discretely stop by to make sure you are enjoying your experience. The deco is eye candy, colors galore to brighten even the greyest of Chicago days.

Located on Fulton Market Street, one of Chicago's restaurant rows, Carnivale offers a great alternative to the excellent ethnic Greek restaurants in neighboring Greek Town. The exterior is brightly colored and plainly visible from the Interstate highway it borders. The interior is decorated with an eye-popping array of bold colors and mirrors, creating a most cheerful ambience. The bar offers a wonderful selection of specialty Mexican, Central and South American cocktails, many with a new twist on the traditional theme. My daughter's fiancé and I started with the oxtail empanada, with braised beef in a crispy corn shell, Malanga purée, frisée, and truffle chimichurri -- delicious. My wife and her friend shared an Amazonian chopped salad made of lettuce, hearts of palm, dates, queso fresco, avocado, cherry tomatoes, and cashews, topped with a smoked pepper vinaigrette. It was OK but nothing spectacular. My daughter and father-in-law shared the wild mushroom coca, featuring sourdough flatbread, forest mushrooms, caramelized onions, goat cheese, arugula, and truffle. Quite nice. For the main, both my father-in-law and I had the salmon with Creole mustard glaze atop roasted vegetable quinoa with cilantro. My wife and daughter both had the Senator's chicken breast, which was nicely seasoned and served with fries, watercress, and topped with a
citrus butter glaze. My daughter's fiancé had the adobo-rubbed 12 oz New York strip steak with lyonaisse potato, bone marrow, and veal marmalade. Done to perfection. My wife's friend very much enjoyed the green almond and herb crusted pork chop Milanese, served with lemon aioli, sweet plantain mojo and watercress salad. Ask to be seated in the main dining room, as this is the most festive part of the restaurant.
