Maybe this play is for kids or kids at heart. There was a lot of work put into the stage. The actors did their best. But, maybe I am just too old for giants and witches. I don't think the songs were memorable. So maybe this musical will be more for families with younger children. I prefer a musical that has great music rather than a spectacular stage craft.

We saw Big Fish on it's Pre-Broadway World Premiere Opening Night. This show was phenomenal! The cast is excellent and the staging is awesome. We were in town for a brief visit and I happened upon an ad for the show. I highly recommend this show for folks who may not see many Broadway plays. It grabs your attention and they've included many fun surprises along the way. My husband was pleasantly surprised by how it captured his attention. The first act is 1 hr 16 min, with a 15 min intermission. The second act is 1 hr 6 min. It's only here for 5 weeks, so act quickly. You don't want to miss this ... no doubt it will be a hit when it arrives on Broadway.

This is part of "Theater Row" in Chicago and the building has been beautifully restored. Many "Broadway in Chicago" productions take place here.

The Oriental is a great place to see plays in Chicago. They did a great job refurbishing a grand old theater.
