“Great way to see how beautiful Chicago really is in a relaxed way.”
Reviewed July 26, 2012

We did the 2 hour Cruise- not only did we get a great ride down the Chicago River with an excellent narrative, but we also got to go through the locks and out onto Lake Michigan. What a great way to experience Chicago. The boats leave from the Riverwalk- very convenient to Michigan Avenue and the hotels on Wacker Drive.

There is seating on both the upper deck and under cover in the boat, so weather was not a problem. They serve drinks (both non-alcoholic and alcoholic), and can even sell sunscreen.

We highly recommend Mercury- The cost was very reasonable for the length of the trip. We had individuals with all levels of walking ability, and found it easy to enter and exit the boat. There is a ramp to the Riverwalk, and accessibility was not an issue

“It rained”
Reviewed July 13, 2012

This morning was beautiful so after going to the John Hancock Observatory, my wife and I walked down the street to take in a water tour only to have the rain roll in.

Our tour guide was good and provided good info about the downtown architecture. We started in the Chicago River, went west, turned around, then went back east to the lock that allows the boats to leave the lake and go out into Lake Michigan. Because of the rain, we had to leave the top deck and go down below.

It was fine but I am not sure I can strongly recommend it. If you want a tour of the city, take the double-decker bus tour. It will take you to far more sites than you can access by water.

“4th of July Cruise”
Reviewed July 5, 2012

This was a 2 1/2 hour cruise around Lake Michigan while viewing the fireworks. We paid $140 for 4 of us, and we could bring our own food and beverage on board. This was much cheaper than several of the cruises we inquired about at Navy Pier. The cruise started on the river, so we had to go into the lock before going to the lake. When it was time for the fireworks, the boat was parked really close to the barge setting off the fireworks (safe distance) and the fireworks were right above us. After the fireworks show, we cruised along the shore a little more before heading back. We had so much fun!! My kids said that they want to do that every 4th of July.

“Spur of the moment, but so glad!”
Reviewed July 2, 2012

My husband and I stumbled upon this while checking out Michigan Avenue and were lucky enough to catch the Night Cruise that starts at 7:30 pm. It was awesome. 90 minute boat tour with so much information about the city and the architecture. And only for $28 a person!!

It is so worth the money because you go through Downtown Chicago on the Chicago River and then head out to Lake Michigan, where you get excellent views of the Skyline. The sun happened to set while we were on the Lake, so we got night time pictures also.

We had an awesome guide who gave us lots of info and had a great personality and sense of humor. We will do this again when we return to Chicago, for sure!

“Great way to see Chicago's skyline”
Reviewed June 23, 2012

This was a great boat ride down the Chicago river and out onto Lake Michigan. Fabulous views of the Chicago skyline from Lake Michigan and a great ride down the Chicago river under the bridges, elevated railway and alongside the buildings with fabulous architecture. Overall, the tour guide was great and did a fabulous job; he had a few facts wrong, but much better than some other tour guides I've had on other tours. This was well worth it to do on a trip to Chicago!
