This is a gorgeous historic building, carbon black, with gilding at the top and a very elegant style. Don't miss it in the sun.

I absolutely love the green marble used on the Carbide and Carbon building. I took an architectural boat tour one time and learned that the property owners presented their architects with an empty green bottle of champagne, put a coppertop battery on top of the mouth, and asked to have something built like that. The end result is a beautiful building that doubles as the Hard Rock Hotel. The only downside to the hotel is that I've heard the bathrooms don't have any coverings. That means if you're facing the street while taking a shower it may cause you to get a little paranoid.

Not many Art Deco skyscrapers exist in Chicago -- this is one of them and it has been spectavcularly restored.

For the interior see the Hard Rock Hotel description.
