“Early evening gin & jazz”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 13, 2013

Just the place for an early evening gin after hitting the "Magnificent Mile". A live band, from Five, made us want to sit at the bar, just a few feet away from the stage, for longer than we had originally planned. Consequently we rolled into a nearby restaurant [there's more than a few in the vicinity] - l a t e r.

“Atmospheric”

Have been here before when it was jammed, this time we went on a Sunday afternoon at 5 pm, We have to recommend the place for the music, service and atmosphere, we had appetisers and shared a steak, the steak was beyond expectations and unexpected but pricey for a bar / restaurant / club but not enough to put us off, try it on a Sunday it is the way to chill with superb music quality.

“Good time!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 9, 2013 via mobile

Got there and parked in local parking lot $12 for 3 hours. 1/2 block walk to restaurant. Food was okay and reasonably priced. Got there around 7pm with reservations and was immediately seated. Waitress very friendly and fast-- excellent service.

Get two hours at table and then you asked to move to bar. Place real small so that really isn't feasible.

Better bands at 9:30 , better to make 9:30pm reservations and enjoy late evening.

Overall good price, good music and good eats.

Door charge 10 before 7:30, but worth extra 5 bucks to see 9:30 show.

“Nice atmosphere.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 6, 2013

We went on a Friday night on the recommendation of the security guard at our hotel. We don't really listen to jazz, but don't mind it either, so we decided to give it a shot. We were a bit taken aback by the $15 cover charge as we don't usually frequent establishments that charge cover. We felt that $8 and up for a glass of wine and the price of the drinks should have nullified the cover, but I understand the business and the cover probably went to the jazz band. Nice, respectful, diverse crowd. There were some people in their 20's, most people seemed to be over 30, a good number of older folk (70+) also frequent this place. Good music. This is a nice place to hang out even if you don't like jazz that much. The bar staff is friendly and knowledgeable. As like any place downtown expect to pay a little extra for drinks!

“Good music, bad service”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 3, 2013

The place is great if your goal is to just have a few drinks and listen to some jazz music without really taking to anyone. However, if you have a larger party (by larger I mean more than 6 people), be prepared to sit at separate tables and not really interact with each other. They did apologize about not being able to seat the whole party together, but I did call them in advance to check up on the reservation and ask if they could accommodate an extra person in our party. They said that they can put another chair at our table and it would be tight, but by no means did they mention that they would have to seat us at separate tables.
Also, the music is WAY too loud for the size of the venue and I'm not usually one to complain about music. I understand it's a jazz place, but since they advertise themselves as conversation friendly, I thought I could at least hear myself think while the band is playing. Service was also way too slow. Sometimes we waited for 30 minutes to get our drink order. Basically, I wouldn't recommend this place if you're trying to celebrate something. Otherwise, I'm sure it's a great experience if you're into jazz.
