Although a little pricey, I still think this tour is a must while visiting Chicago. The tour guide gives non-stop information about the architectural styles and the history of the city, while you cruise past some of the best known and most interesting buildings in Chicago. We had a stellar, sunny and mild day in late June and it was so enjoyable to take a break from walking and just gawk and take pictures to our heart's content. Very memorable and fun for our entire family.

Maybe because it was the first thing my friend and I did when we got to Chicago (pretty much right off the plane), but this was one of the best things we did. The cruise was very informative, with impressive views of the buildings and a ton of information on the majority of them. Our tour guide talked a lot about the history of Chicago, Chicago's buildings, and the Chicago River.

The cruise was very relaxing and enjoyable. Make sure to wear sunscreen and/or bring a hat because the boat we were on had no covers, which was great because we were able to see all the buildings really well. Also, don't worry about which side of the boat to sit on as you return the way you came and will be able to see each side equally. The one thing that was somewhat annoying is that there were bars/braces for where a covering would go on the boat, and for those who are picture-takers, they are somewhat bothersome so be aware of that when choosing a seat!

My friend and I took both the Architectural and the Shoreline cruises, and by far we enjoyed the Architectural cruise more.

We took the Architecture River Cruise on a Saturday afternoon, and totally loved it. The boat was farely full, but there was lots of room for everyone. The shore was covered in fog, so it was a huge surprise when we started up the river, and went from fog to blue skies and sunshine. The architecture is simply amazing. We had a very interesting and educated guide teaching us about all the buildings, and different styles of architecture. Some of it takes your breath away. We went along three branches of the river, and had a fabulous time. The view from the river is totally different than the view from the streets.

When we got back to Navy Pier, we decided to take the water taxi (for only $4) back up the river to the start of the Magnificent Mile. I would also highly recommend the taxi, to save your energy for shopping.
