If you are a history buff; especially when it comes to small vernacular neighborhood bars constructed in the late 19th-Century, early 20th-Century, then you must make a pilgrimage to Southport Lanes. And its easy to get to - just take the Brown-Line, walk one block, and there it is.
The bar is well preserved, the service was attentive, and the food was surprisingly very good. (I say "surprisingly" because, by default, you always have to be suspicious of bar food in order not to be disappointed). The food here was good.
And of course, the beer was excellent and reasonably price.
In short, this is a bar you could easily hang out with your friends (or a date) for a couple of hours. The bar has a very relaxing atmosphere.
I will definitely be returning soon.
