Never been to Russian Tea Time. Can't wait to go again. It exemplifies that which is, sadly, ignored in the American Culture: antiquity, and the European "slow food" experience. Sergio gave us the exact seating we wanted, was attentive, and the authenticity of the food (including an entire menu page dedicated to Beets) was paired with the delicious house vodka and dessert. Get out of the American chain experience and broaden your cuisine experience. Close to the Art Institute, Millennium Park. I dare ya!

My wife and I popped in after walking past Russian Tea Time on a trip to Grant Park. Our impression from the street was "eh -- let's try it". On the inside the restaurant was elegant, somewhat formal, and had a real ethnic feel. We ordered wine, beet soup, a lamb pastry, and versions of chicken dumplings. The wine was excellent, the food a welcome break from Chicago's oversupply of steak places, and a delicious experience. Service was, well, Russian -- what would you expect?

Lots of atmosphere, and good service did not make up for just average food, which all of our party of five agreed upon. Even if it is convenient to the Chicago Symphony (our reason for going), recommend skipping this one.

For delicious authentic Russian food, I highly recommend Russian Tea Time. Located 1 block from the Art Insitute it is perfect for dinner after visiting the museum. The dumplings and potatoe pancakes are delicious starters. The beef stroganoff is amazing and is enough for 2 people if you have appetizers and wine. Reservations are recommended. Enjoy!
