Five of us dined there last night and had a fantastic time. The size of our group allowed us to sample most of the menu. Loved the mushroom pate with vidalia onion marmalade and house made pickles, cabbage dumplings, pepper hash, egg with smoked potato purée (anything with a runny egg!), slightly spicy sesame noodles - really an inventive and beautiful menu. Small but decent list of cocktails - we all found something we enjoyed. Tried all the desserts and demolished them.

Our server was extremely helpful throughout the evening. The space is small but well laid out creating an intimate setting with truly lovely artwork. A beautiful backdrop for the forgeous food None of us are vegetarians but we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Four of us had dinner. The decor is lovely. The food was good, but not exceptional. The portions were really small and were overpriced.
We really loved the corn tamales and the mushroom pâté.
The fettuccine were oily and the risotto was undercooked.
The carrot soup was tasteless. It was inedible so we sent it back.

Went there for my birthday-some dishes were ok-others were either bland or stale or tasteless- ordered cocktails with no ice- brought them with ice- asked to be removed-we got back half the portion-did not want to upset the waiters to complain in case they spate on our food-waiters were too formal and not friendly-especially the bartender-in short the bill was steep and the food not worth it- so beware and go somewhere else-

I gave up a night of steak to bring my wife to the Green Zebra. After selecting six small dishes and some wine, I left a happy customer. The food was amazing and I would go back in a second. We left stuffed from the six plates and would recommend this place to anyone.

We were in Chicago for three days as part of an anniversary getaway. This was the best dining experience of the trip. We consider ourselves foodies having worked in the industry ourselves for many years. The dishes coming out of the kitchen demonstrated a sophistication and appreciation of flavor that rivals restaurants at three times the price. But, the true beauty of the restaurant was the way the staff approaches the experience. There is a sincerity about this place that can only be accomplished by people who care about what they're doing.
Our server, Cynthia, was a delight. From recommending options, all of which were superb, to her delightful explanations of what we were getting, to her hailing us a cab outside when we were finished, she was amazing at every turn.
It is our hope that Chicago appreciates what a jewel it has in this place. Thanks for leaving us with such a special memory.
