Description: Mon Ami Gabi is a classic French bistro and steakhouse. While the favorites are all here in abundance, there is always something new to try from the ever-evolving menu. The traditional menu features classics such as the warm Onion Soup Au Gratin, Frisee & Bacon Salad with a soft-poached egg and croutons, Roast Chicken grand-mere style with mushrooms, bacon and pearl onions, as well as the trademark Steak Frites. To complement the cuisine, an extensive selection of over 80 boutique French wine varietals are served by the glass or bottle from our signature rolling wine cart. Guests will enjoy the airy interior with our large French windows opening out onto the Lincoln Park Conservatory, or in the summer months, the lovely outdoor garden. Please Note: Reservations are taken for indoor seating only. Outdoor patio seating is available on first-come, first-serve bases.

“A real disappointment”
Reviewed October 27, 2012

This is one of those times that you kick yourself and say, "why did you go to a chain, you know better?" A wonderful gem before becoming a chain, but now it's a miss. The service was poor, the food was not up to par (duck confit without crispy skin!), and while the atmosphere is lovely it's not worth it. There are much, much better French Bistrot fair to be had in Chicago.

“Good food and good service”
Reviewed October 20, 2012 via mobile

Friday evening dinner. Reservation at 7:30, they seated us at 7:30. Shrimp cocktails very good. Filet merlot was very good, steak frittes very good, Dover sole excellent. Side dishes also excellent. Bananas foster was average. Service very good.
Worth a try.

“Highly recommended!”
Reviewed October 19, 2012

I visited this restaurant in Las Vegas and when I knew there was one in Chicago too I couldn't resist to try it....and I'm so glad I did! The food, the atmosphere and the service were just as I remembered. I had a Steak Bordelaise which is a steak with caramelized onions and a red wine sauce and it was amazing. My husband had the Burgundy Braised Beef Short Rib and it was great too...very tender and full of flavor. Hope to come back some time!

“Real French...”
Reviewed October 1, 2012

I've been there countless times, and every time it is enjoyable. The menu is kind of French, the atmosphere is kind of French, and at the end of the day everything blends into a great experience. The only thing that bugs me is the feeling I'm being a bit rushed at the end of the meal...which is French too...

“Gluten Free and more....”
Reviewed September 30, 2012

We chose this restaurant because it was highly touted on the Gluten Free Travel website. We were not disappointed! There was a separate GF menu plus husband even received hot GF bread (a first for us).
The entire meal was excellent and served well. The French onion soup (there is a GF version) was delicious and very large. The steak, salmon w/quinoa, and skate were all very good. We couldn't manage dessert, but saw the bananas foster which looked tasty and of a size to share.
