There are literally thousands of places that serve fried shrimp in the Chicagoland area, but nary a few really get it right. This place is all about getting it right.
Fran's is a very old, very traditional business that understands quality.
Are they inexpensive? No But for what you get, I believe very reasonable.
Are they the fanciest, flashiest looking business? No
Are they the only business that understands how to fry shrimp the correct way? Absolutely
Everything about Frank's is done correctly. Very fresh, clean shrimp are used, correct size as advertised, perfecly seasoned coating that is tapped off before frying so as not to encourage thick coating, fried correctly in CLEAN fresh oil no matter when you are there, NOT overcooked but fried exactly the short amount of time it takes and served with a seafood sauce that is by far the best in town.
Each bag of crunchy, very hot shrimp is a treat. Just be patient as it is so easy to burn yourself trying to wait. Enjoy.
