This is one of our favorite restaurants in Chicago. We love the food and atmosphere. The steak and seafood are worth the price. The steak and cake is my go to, it's a filet and crab cake combo that never disappoints. My husband is a fan of the ahi tuna. The house salad that comes with your entree has the best dressing, so I always go with the salad over the soup. The sides are also great. We love the twice baked potato. The desserts are big enough for the table, so when your server tells you that you only need one, believe him! They are all excellent, especially the muddy bottom pie. Come here with family, friends, date night, special occasion or for a fun night of people watching. They don't call this area the viagra triangle for no reason!

Dinner with co-workers. Restaurant was hopping, so we sat in the bar area. We sat right next to the piano which made it a bit difficult to talk. At that point, I was sick of talking to my co-workers so it worked out okay. The live entertainment was very good. I warmed up with cup of clam chowder that I thoroughly enjoyed. Main dish was the Cajun Chicken & Crab, Andouille Sausage & Garlic Butter over pasta. Very interesting dish, very tasty. Washed it all down with a couple Goose Islands. I was considering the crab cakes ... one my co-workers ordered that. They were just okay. Happy with the choices I made that night.

My husband and I figured that HUGO'S FROG & FISH HOUSE being right next door and owned by Gibson's Steak House would be as good as it's neighbor. NOT! We went for Lake Superior White Fish and Lake Perch. Both were unacceptable. The White Fish was dry and mushy and the Lake Perch was over-breaded, deep fried and greasy (it was ordered sautéed). Neither fish seemed fresh or had any taste. Plate presentation was poor. And the food didn't arrive together. We sent the orders back and didn't reorder because we had lost our taste for that restaruant. BUT the soup d' jour was excellent. Our waiter seemed inexperienced but tried to please. We could have done better since we were in a 'food city'

I went to hugos last week with my cousin on the last night of my stay in Chicago. We managed to book a table earlier that evening which seemed quite fortunate as it was packed when we arrived! We were early so went to the bar and got some drinks and the atmosphere was great. We didn't have to wait too long and were really well looked after by bobby the waiter (think his name was bobby, young guy either way!) he knew his stuff and was really quick and efficient. I went for the swordfish as I love it, and the hollandaise sauce was delicious, I don't normally even like it but it was great. I enjoyed finding out what the 'meaning of life' cake is, I wouldn't go for it myself but as it wasn't a Saturday I didn't get to see anyone else order it. If you come here as a tourist then I recommend coming to this area for dinner and drinks and heading to the hancocks 96th floor for a cocktail with amazing views afterwards.

If you want to eat there at the regular dinner time, you'd better book it few days ago. We called the day before, but we can only book a table after 9:30pm on a Saturday. The food there was great. First time eating frog's legs at a restaurant. We have ordered the frog's leg, crab cake and Rockefeller as appetizers. Crab cake is full of crabs... doesn't like other restaurant that you can only taste the potato. For main course, the sea bass is super.. i really like the sauce which matches so well with the sea bass.
I saw other table ordering dessert but it's way too big for 2 of us. So we ordered the cream bulee, but it's so-so...
