Who'd of though this hillbilly could get GOOD froglegs in Chicago? Do wait for a patio table if weather is good. Good food and service, nothing outstanding though, we were just really hungry and tired by the time we made it down here. Would try some of the other "highly ranked" rush st eats before coming here again though. Great people watching.

We enjoyed this restaurant as dishes are very simple but very tasty, for the very good fish quality.
Service is fairly good. A little expensive. Tables are very close one to the other and there's a little noise.

Recomended with friends.

We are in Chicago every August for a conference and are always excited to be in a large city and try new places. Our goal is to never repeat a restaurant, but we'll break the rule with this one. The food was well presented and delicious, our server was top notch, and we never felt rushed even though it was a weekend. You might think - given the high traffic area for tourists - that this is a tourist restaurant. But, a restaurant doesn't have to be this good just to serve tourists. I would definitely be a regular if I lived in Chicago.

Tip: We went before 6:00 p.m. and didn't have any trouble getting a good table without a reservation, although if we had really wanted to be outside we would have had to wait.

This restaurant is loud, crowded and it's pricey, but I recommend it anyway. I've eaten there a half dozen times now and never had a meal that wasn't wonderful. The menu is varied with several good fresh fish options and you can also order steaks from Gibsons (attached next door). My go-to is the King crab salad as an entree, but I've also ordered the King crab legs - divine. They offer side dishes for sharing and my favorite is the creamed spinach. Very good New England clam chowder. Nice selection of wines too. The desserts are ridiculously huge and must be shared by at least 4 people. It's in a fun section of town. Make reservations no matter what night of the week it is.

If you like fresh fish and seafood well prepared, you'll like Hugo's. Prompt friendly service, nice variety of seasonal catch, well prepared. They don't spare the calories with salad dressing or butter for preparation. Bread basket was great. Nice wine menu and alfresco dining, large seating inside and reservations accepted. Some pricey entrees.
