The foods at Le Colonial are delicious and favorful. However, do not expect authentic Vietnamese food. Most of the dishes, especially the entrees, are pretty much "americaized" to some extents. However, it was still enjoyable. I had the summer rolls and the seafood stew in coconut broth. Both were delicious. The wine selection was decent. The service was pleasant and efficient. We were a party of 12 but we were able to finish the entire dinner a bit over 2 hours without feeling rush!!

It you want fresh and light asian food, this is a good choice.

On a sunny and ht, rainy or snow, this place is good to go!!
The main floor views at the window are great for pole watching.
The food, always fresh and lights, great flavors and service is always good. Wonderful place to pop in of lunch but a dinner can be very special. You'll enjoy it, I have come back often.

The food at Le Colonial is beautifully presented, fresh and wonderfully flavored. It is Chinese cooking with French sauces and superb. Visiting from out of town, I have been known to eat there more than once on a visit to Chicago. Soft Shell crab (seasonally available) was an all-time favorite. Reservations are a must.

Well we came here after a friend recommended the place but unfortunately we ran into a problem which could have been avoided. After starters, of which my partners was pleasant and mine was superb (the oxtail soup - a meal in itself for $7) we had our mains and my partner made the error of ordering the red snapper which had 'market value' as it's price. As all the other mains on the menu were around the 25 dollar mark he assumed his would be too and made the error of not confirming the price. He ate his meal making the comment that it was ok but the sweet and sour sauce overpowered the flavour of the fish. When the bill came we were charged $42 dollars for the fish!!! My main was the shrimp in a coconut curry sauce which reminded us of the curry sauce served in pots in English fish and chip shops to pour on chips. Not the greatest. Anyway the bill without any wine set us back $105 for a mediocre meal after which we went up the John Hancock to the Signature room for a drink and saw that we could have had red snapper there on the 96th floor with that view for €34 - Boo to Le Colonial for fleecing us tonight. Tip - tell your customer how much the market value is before they order!

My wife and I have dined here numerous time most recently this month. This place has great character, cuisine, and wines. If you enjoy fusion or Vietnamese cuisine you will have a good time. The location is also fantastic. I will be back the next time I am in town.
