This is my go to place in Chicago for visitors. I love to bring people to Le Colonial. The service is incredible, food is wonderful and adaptability is super. Note: They are able to do almost every dish glutton free.

We recently went there for NYE. For $65 fixed price, the value was fantastic. We left totally stuffed but wanting more of the wonderful food. Our server was so wonderful. She was incredibly knowledgeable of the food and made fantastic recommendations.

Went here for lunch on a prime holiday shopping day in December. Great food, a little pricey but very good and great service. Got pretty crowded pretty quickly so I might recommend reservations.

Ate here Christmas Eve 2012. We had booked as we expected it to be busy. However, we were shoe horned into our seats.....far far too cramped. My wife was almost touching the people behind us. This really is an issue when asking these prices. Food was ok but disappointed in terms of presentation and depth of flavours...verging on bland! Had far superior flavours and aesthetics in Hanoi and Saigon.
Service was ok but difficult for the waiting staff given space between tables.

We visit Chicago every year in December and never miss the opportunity to have lunch at Le Colonial. Service is always good. Food is spot on. It's always a busy place to dine but we don't mind the hustle and bustle. We order several appetizers and then stick to salads mostly. The clay pot chicken is also a good option!

I've been here twice and I love the decor, the staff and the food. I would highly recommend the grilled trout which comes wrapped in banana leaves. It's a real conversation starter! Both times I've had it the people at the next table have commented and inquired and it has led to a nice conversation with strangers! Which brings me to the restaurant setting -it is very close and crowded. Unless you get a table by the window you are way too close to the people sitting at other tables. Both times we've been there we were seated at the "bench" and there was barely any demarcation between the people at my table and the ones not. Putting on your jacket or removing it can be hazardous -you may knock of the glasses at the next table!
