We live within walking distance of Bistrot Zinc and so have enjoyed it several times. It is one of the better restaurants in a neighborhood with lots of good choices for places to eat. We love Paris and so it is a delight to have a bistrot near at hand.
Last night our friends had the wolf fish special which looked lovely and they enjoyed it. I had a vou au vent with a lamb stew which was expertly executed with crisp tasty shell and mashed potatoes. My husband enjoyed the beef shortribs. Desserts were particularly yummy -- pot au creme and an almond cake with fresh fruit -- both with excellent chantilly. The wine list while not extensive is very good. We enjoyed a very nice bottle of sancerre which is one of our favorites and not always available in US restaurants.
The service was gracious without annoying interruptions of the conversation. On a Friday night it was a bit noisy but the waiter responded to our request for a table along the wall where conversation was easier.
The bread, I suspect is from the local French bakery. It really did taste like a good French baguette which is one of our favorite foods and hard to come by in the US. Fresh food, well prepared -- good variety of choices. This is a place we will be back to often.
