“Must Try”
Reviewed January 25, 2014

As residents of the northern 'burbs and frequent visitors to da city, this Greektown/Halsted spot is one of our favs for a casually-paced and festive-spirited dinner. Decor is as expected, nothing fancy. Spacing of tables is OK and noise level is usually reasonable. Service is generally quite good, attentive and not intrusive. Food is authentic and always enjoyable. Our favorites are: 1) Apps: Tzatziki, gyro, shish kabobs, calamari, and always the flaming saganaki; 2) mains: sea bass, mahi-mahi, and shrimp tourkomano. We go there with the intention of enjoying great food at a slower paced, relaxed atmosphere, and it generally never disappoints.

“Greek Classics With Friendly Service”
Reviewed January 13, 2014

A late lunch at the Greek Islands turned out to be a delightful experience.
The ambience is relaxed, the food delicious and the opportunity to visit with friends was wonderful. The staff was helpful but not intrusive and served dishes promptly. There was no sense of being rushed even though the restaurant was filled to capacity with several private parties. All In all, a very satisfying experience.

“Great for Large Groups, Sharing”
Reviewed January 8, 2014

We met another family here for an early dinner, and rather than order individual dinners, we decided to share everything, from appetizers to salads to entrees to desserts. Heavy on the appetizers and small plates. It was a lot of fun, and great way to try lots of different items. We especially liked the fried calamari appetizer and the suckling pig special--both were seasoned very well and cooked to perfection! Service was good--a little fast, but we didn't feel rushed. When we were originally seated, we were near the bar, but it was too noisy, so they graciously moved us to another room where the table was slightly raised and "sheltered" from the rest of the large dining room. Be aware that your party needs to be complete before they'll seat you. The free valet parking was especially nice on such a cold night.

We had some problems to get a taxi to go to the hotel and they turn a light in order the taxis watch it and they ask about service but I think it didnt work very well during winter season

“Expensive, but tasty”
Reviewed January 5, 2014 via mobile

Ate here as a reunion with friends from Greece. The good news: the food was good. Greek classics with American level seasoning: so if you are after authentic food be warned that it is spicy by Greek standards, but I found it delicious amd familiar.

The bad news: it was expensive. By American standards it's a little high, but in comparison to what you'd pay for comparable food in Greece it's almost exorbitant. However, the staff was very friendly and the decor amusingly kitschy so I would recommend it if you don't mind the tourist experience replete with the experience surcharge.
