Description: Francesca's on Taylor features the zesty, earthy cuisine of Rome and the surrounding areas of Tuscany, Umbria and Lazio. Chicago Magazine notes, "It brings a new kind of abbondanza to an old Italian neighborhood." It is the fourth restaurant opened by Chef Scott Harris, whose philosophy is to encourage the lively art of dining with a contemporary, casually sophisticated trattoria ambiance, good, rustic cooking, friendly service and fair prices. Anne Spiselman of Crain's Chicago Business observes: "A rolled-mesh ceiling, warm woods and geometric light fixtures give the room a rather clubby look, brightened during the day by light coming through the windows facing the street. And, Francesca's on Taylor takes reservations. "No, it does more; it honors reservations. Twice I made reservations, twice I walked into a packed dining room, and twice I was seated within 10 minutes," notes respected Chicago Tribune food critic Phil Vettel who claims this to be his favorite Francesca restaurant.

We were blown away by the service and food quality at this italian eatery tucked away behind the Hancock tower. The spinach ravioli was very fresh and tasty, calamari was crisp and flavorful but my favorite was the homemade chocolate ice cream.

Had lunch here. The ravioli with tartufo sauce were excellent. Wine prices a bit steep, it would be nice to offer a house wine in carafe. Service good! Spaghetti with cozze and clams very good.. I prefer white sauce but this was not too red. Overall very fine.

Definitely visit and definitely make reservations. Nice, quaint restaurant that fills up quickly. Our server, Amanda, was excellent. She was helpful with suggestions, diligent with our requests, and overall very attentive. I ordered the Pollo Ubriaco and was not a fan of the light brandy sauce. It was really not a tasty chicken and pasta dish, kind of bland. Preferred the tomato sauce on my husband’s dish over my entrée. I’m sure the other dishes are tasty, however. Please note: the portions are HUGE! Highly suggest sharing if you can’t take your meal to-go, or you will be wasting a lot of good food. Even the salads are large. We split a Caesar salad, and the portions were perfect. Unfortunately we had drinks and dessert elsewhere, so we didn’t try anything on those menus. Enjoyed our date at Francesca’s!
