“Good food - spotty service”
Reviewed November 25, 2012

The food is very nice but service can be spotty. I observed a few customers were very angry about the wait time for their take out food.

“Perfect spot....!!”
Reviewed November 1, 2012

Close to our hotel and great meals for a fraction of the price charged in the Peninsula Hotel. Very helpful and friendly staff. Did care for the large shared tables.

“Comfortable high end cafe”
Reviewed October 29, 2012

This small cafe is located to the rear of the Peninsula Hotel. The cafe serves above average food in a comfortable setting. The baked goods, pastries etc. are really good. This is a place to enjoy an excellent salad, light meal or well chosen glass of wine. Menu specials, such as during the recent month long Octoberfest, can be outstanding.
Located in a busy area with lots of expensive bland food offerings this is a good alternative.. They do not accept reservations and a good portion of the seating consists of large communal style seating . Wouldn't consider it a romantic setting but it offers good food and value for a quick meal.

“Gem of a Bistro 1 block off Michigan Ave.”
Reviewed October 12, 2012

My husband and I have eaten here more times than I can count, both in the cafe and for carryout. The menu isn't lengthy but it's fresh and creative. Heavenly desserts are displayed as you enter. Recently we had an Octoberfest special--weinerschnitzel and spaetzle. Wonderful! It's one of my husband's favorite breakfast spots, too. It is part of the Peninsula Hotel, but entry is on the street at the corner of Superior and Rush Streets, just one block west of North Michigan Avenue.
