“To Have and Have Not”

They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day and here it's also the most delicious. Big portions and hearty fare fueled me up for my big day sightseeing up and down Big Windy.

“Good restaurant with lots of character!”
Reviewed June 7, 2014

Pretty good food, lots of great options for everybody. We made the mistake of arriving in Chicago on the day of the black hawks parade, so the restaurant was very busy and the food took a long time, although it probably os much quicker on a normal day. I got a salad, it was a little watery, but still tasted pretty good. Charming inside, with one of the coolest bathrooms ever. It is a good choice if you are headed to the art museum because it is a short walk from there.

“Breakfast gem”
Reviewed May 28, 2014

I found this place by walking around looking for a good breakfast places and I loved the food I had here. It's an old-fashioned diner that serves standard breakfast fare with some interesting local variations. They don't take cards, but they have an ATM.

“Reasonably Priced”
Reviewed May 28, 2014

The second time that I have dined here. Breakfast was basic, fairly pedestrian, but reasonably priced. Dinner, just ordered a rueben and fries while my company ordered a burger. Both were good and the Rueben was stacked with meat. I had skipped lunch this day and the sandwich and fries more than filled me up. My friend said that the burger was good as well. Appetizers, meh, ordered the pretzels and definitely not worth it. 7 dollars for four basic pretzels. However, the dipping sauce that they used was excellent. Service was excellent. I suggest sitting on the sidewalk patio so that you can look out at the skyline, park, and people watch. Only takes American Express or cash which was a problem although there is an atm machine on site. Other than the appetizers a good basic meal without wrecking the budget for your trip.

“Food ok, prices High”
Reviewed May 11, 2014 via mobile

Ate lunch and breakfast. Sandwich or salad with tea for 3 was $50. Sandwiches were good but not special. Wait staff was friendly. Cashier and elder host were stoic. Breakfast was better but not worth $40 for 3 people.
