Our large group dined at Lou Mitchell's on a Sunday afternoon and the service was superb. We were happily greeted and seated and found our server to be funny and helpful. The food was wonderful: not fancy, but well-prepared. I will definitely go there again!

My family of 10 ate here for breakfast twice. We had to split up but the staff was very accommodating and friendly. Also the best eggs Benedict I've ever had. Will definitely go back during my next trip to Chicago!!

When they say "the best coffee in the country" they aren't lying! We had a great experience at Lou Mitchell's. Our waitress was prompt and polite, keeping our coffees full. The food was tasty as well as the price. We were able to sit outside on a beautiful June morning--bonus! Plus, they invite you to grab some free donut holes on your way in! (Buyer beware--not sure how many people have clean hands ;))

From reading the reviews on here I was expecting greatness, unfortunately I left disappointed. It just didn't live up to the reviews. That's not to say Lou Mitchell 's wasn't very good, and that I won't be back (when wanting variety), there's just better out there.
It is novel to be greeted with donut balls upon arrival, however, they aren't worth th trek. Service, well when not being served there seemed to be a lot of sitting around chatting.
The pancakes weren't an thing special, tasty, just nothing to distinguish rom any other breakfast joint. Like I say I will probably return rather than always go to the same place for breakfast everytime.

That's right. A basketful of donut holes right when I walked in. Seated at the diner counter, my server's name is Audrey and I'm pretty sure she's called me honey 5 times. Ordered two eggs, but told I would receive four and did I really want 4? So I guess the servings are big here.

Simple breakfast for me - poached eggs, English muffins and tomato slices. And grapefruit. All good!!
