OMG, I can't say enough about this great place. Service was top priority, thank you Amanda and Steve! We started with oysters and we were mistakenly brought the wrong type. Before we realized it, our waitress brought the corrected order and we benefited from two orders for the price of one. The four of us ordered separate entries and all were very happy. The blanched green beans were especially in favor. As it was my son's birthday, our dessert came with a candle.
The band in the background was great.

As a lifelong resident of Chicago, I have never had the pleasure of dining at Shaw's. Imagine my delight when I finally was able to dine and the experience was outstanding. The decor, the service and the food were all first class. The experience began with our server. Adam made the experience more than just a meal! The Maryland crab cake appetizer and the seafood salad were delightful. Add the chocolate cake and key lime pie dessert Sublime! I will absolutely be back!

We have been recommended Shaw's Crab House. The food we were served (shrimp as starter, crab cake as main) was good, but is just nowhere near GB's Crab House in Maryland. However, what really spoiled our experience, was the table we were assigned. We had reserved and came well before rush hour – so there were plenty of free tables. We were given a tiny table that did not have enough room to fit, drinks, plates and sides, so the waiter was constantly shuffling things around. Quite irritating. As it got later and the restaurant got fuller, the tables next to ours filled and now there was no space between them, so that we had to move our chairs every time the waiters served one of the tables around us or when one of the guests on the other table needed to get up. And the waiter did not seem to care that we were constantly disturbed. All I can say that this was the worst experience in a restaurant on this trip – and there are plenty of other crab restaurants in Chicago. As I'm a regular here, I've taken Shaw's Crab House off my list of restaurants to visit again.

I visited Shaw's on a Tuesday night with my sister while visiting Chicago for a conference. We had a reservation at 6:45 PM and were seated in a cozy corner table with a great view of the restaurant. We shared the shrimp cocktail with house-made cocktail sauce--incredible! I continued with the lobster bisque which lived up to its reputation! Lobster Fest was going on, so my sister had the Lobster chopped salad from the specials menu. She has particular dietary needs when eating out and the salad was an instant success. I enjoyed the Virginia soft shell crab with tropical salsa and jicama slaw. Simply incredible!! We loved the classic decor of a mid century classic Chicago restaurant and will definitely be back again!

So our staff has spent a day in Chicago. We are hot snd sweaty and dressed VERY casual. We were directed to the Oyster Bar part of the restaurant for our own comfort in our condition but warmly welcomed. JESSICA was our chief server and from the second she geeeted us we had an unforgettable evening. It was the first time for all of our group except me. They were blown away.

From the variety of the menu to the sourdough bread, from the freshness of all the seafood to the generous portions, from the excellent salads and sides to the incredible house made desserts, just incredible. And Jessica's team, the shortest tenure of which was 14 years working at Shaws together, was off the charts.

And did I mention live music that was just right and an incredible party atmosphere that was also we raved about the evening. This is another of Rich Melman's Lettuce Entertain You creations and a top draw, believe me.

If in Chicago, and desiring a memorable dining experience, Shaws is on the list! I csn still taste the tart cherry cobbler we ended with!
