This restaurant is upstairs on North Michigan Ave. The restaurant has an open kitchen when you walk in and the lighting is low. We went for lunch after a architectural river tour. The staff was very knowledgeable about the menu and made a couple of recommendations. My wife had the Prime Rib French Dip Sandwich and I had the Seared Ahi Tuna dinner. They were both excellent. This was the best lunch we had in Chicago. The Ahi comes with a salad with this honey-lime vinaigrette dressing that was outstanding. (They wouldn't give us the entire recipe for it). My wife raved about the sandwich. The portions were just right for lunch. We split the Banana Cream Pie for dessert (we were on vacation). It came out with fresh cut pieces of banana, caramel sauce drizzle, and shaved chocolate. We wanted to go back for supper but it was our last night and we didn't have time.

We got the trifecta when we visited Bandera for dinner. It was a little hard to find as it accessible by entering next to "men's warehouse" and taking an escalator to the second story. We were sat at a table by the window that overlooks the magnificent mile. The table was nice (tablecloth and linen napkins) the chairs comfortable and the lighting was perfect (low lights - not bright). We ordered a salad and a sandwich to share. I believe it was the Mandera salad....served with figs, goat cheese, chicken chunks, corn, avocado, and cornbread croutons. It was a large salad and they weren't cheap with the ingredients. We also ordered the prime rib/french dip sandwich with shoestring fries. This was very tender and a healthy portion. We showed up quite hungry but the salad and sandwich was perfect. Oh yeah, we had to have dessert too! We ordered the oreo sandwich. Great for sharing as there were two oreo sandwiches served in a pool of chocolate sauce topped with what had to be home-made whipped cream!!! Yummy!!!!

This Magnificent Mile dining spot is a hidden gem! It's upstairs about in the middle on Michigan Ave. Nice vibe, decor, and staff. Concise menu- they do everything they do very well. LOVE the Macho Salad, my daughter loved the veggie burger, best one she ever had! I also loved the regular beef burger. Their cornbread and foccacia combo, served with a dab of guacamole, some lovely olives, and almonds, was gone in seconds- so good! We also loved the live jazz music. Cannot go wrong here!

We've been going to Bandera for many years whenever we're in Chicago. This was our first time in about five years and we weren't sure what to expect. We were delighted to find that the place is as cool as ever--hip ambiance, excellent food, quality service, and live music to top it off. (I had Scottish salmon and it was outstanding.) Bandera had held up well and continues to be a Chicago favorite for us.

I've never understood the long waits, and I don't think this place is worth waiting for. Very standard fair, though in a nice setting. American dishes for the most part, try the short ribs, if anything.
