“Music to woo the heart”
Reviewed April 15, 2014

I walked into this place by accident, and it was a very nice mistake. A jazz/blues restaurant with lots of personality, I was entertained, and had a nice meal.

“Go Not For Food, But Do Go”
Reviewed March 30, 2014

This is a really hard review to write. Katerina's is really a club, music venue, and cabaret that has food and encourages you to both eat and drink during the performances. The food is Greek kind of, but what we tried was at best mediocre and not deserving more than two to three stars. We had their fried calamari, just passable, and several other Greek specialties that were at best three star quality. Drank wine, Greek, very good and Greek beer, also good by the bottle. Prices were reasonable. But you surely would never return for the food. Fix the food, narrow the menu, do a few things right, cut out the references to Mom and Dads fave, especially when the dish is awful!

So why four stars? The vibe, the entertainment, the friendliness, the ambience, the quality of the entertainment make us want to return. It is such a cool place! Drop the food. Or serve appetizers only. We are trying to decide how to go back and not deal with the food! Sitting at the bar is one option, but we really liked the little tables. Fifteen years now, they claim, they have been doing this. Time for a change!

“Delicious food and Excellant Entertainment”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

This is a quaint little treasure that we were so happy we found!! Visiting Chicago last June we had a girls night out, (3 sisters, mom and niece). I live in Canada, one of my sisters lives in Florida, mom lives in Chicago and niece lives in Scotland. The service was incredible, the food was delicious and the entertainment was great. We couldn't have had more fun then we had here.

“New Years from Hell.”
Reviewed January 1, 2013

My friends and I went there for New Years. it was afwul. My girlfriends made the reservations about two weeks in advance yet they put us in a table by the door where it was cold and basically sitting was impossible. the whole group, eight of us were just upset. There was only one waitress and we waited for a long time. It was bad evening with so so music that cost about $90. per person. Big disappointment. When making reservations ask about the table and its location.

“"The Art of The Song"”
Reviewed August 5, 2012

I attended "The Art of The Song" event on a Sunday evening, mostly because my late brother's very good childhood friend, Linda Tate, was performing as a part of the show. What a tremendous surprise this off the beaten path Jazz Club and restaurant proved to be. The music was outstanding, not only from Linda, but Laury Shelley and Joanie Pallatto were tremendous jazz vocalist, Dave Onderdonk a superior guitarist and Sparrow a truly entertaining pianist. The music was absolutely wonderful--cover charge $5.00! (Did you hear that Jazz Showcase).

The drinks were a bit pricey, but generous portions were poured by the bartender, and the menu was surprisingly varied for a place that seats maybe 50 people.

We had the Shrimp which was sautéed in fresh tomato, Greek feta and basil, and Prosciutto which was uniquely prepared--Asparagus wrapped in prosciutto and goat cheese with balsamic vinegar. The Vegetarian Pasta Kapama, a Greek tomato sauce prepared with red wine and cachet of herbs and spices slowly simmered, served over traditional Miskos spaghetti, and topped with grated Parmesan and fresh basil garnish, was fine, but not great. On the other hand, the Stuffed Chicken Breast filled with sautéed spinach and creamy feta was to die for good! I will certainly be dining at this establishment again, out of the way though it may be for me.
