My niece who lives in the neighborhood recommended this restaurant, and it did not disappoint. The menu offered a variety of choices from appetizers like filling pumpkin ravioli to lighter picks like roasted kale and brussels sprout salad to hearty entrees like a mushroom and lentil casserole, that was so delicious. The noise level was about 5 on a scale of 1-10. We dined on a Saturday night with reservations; it was very busy but the service was spot on. There is a bar that serves mixed drinks, good wine at a decent price, and beer on tap. I would return again without a doubt.

We discovered Chicago Diner when Diners, Drive-In and Dives reviewed it. Guy Fierey
was absolutely right and we have been going there ever since that show. This is one of the very best vegetarian restaurants in the country. Their menu includes every type of dish that pleases the most discreet diner. Always crowded, but definitely worth the wait.

This is my hometown and this is one of my absolute favorite restaurants. Everything is always fresh and delicious. You don't have to be a vegetarian or vegan to love the Chicago Diner.

I was staying in the area for 5 nights and ate there 5 times. Started and ended with the Monte Christo because it was truly that amazing. (Make sure they give you the maple syrup with it - they forgot on the second go round).

Other winners were the BBQ Wings, Poutine, Mashed Potatoes, muffins and cookies. The shakes were good, but a little too sweet for me. The gyro was fine, not great. And the Ruben was a disappointment because it had green peppers in it - probably would be amazing without that strange addition (I've had a lot of Rubens!). The Mac and Teese was a failure (time to rethink that recipe when there are SO many amazing ones out there).

The staff was mostly very friendly and helpful.

It's probably a good thing I don't live in Chicago, because I would be tempted to eat their "once-in-a-while-indulget-dishes" way too much.

Definitely an amazing lil joint for any vegan (my husband), & ok for me & 2 boys. The salads were amazing! Poutine appetizer was great. Kids cheese(dairy) quesadilla was great, chicken fingers not so great. Fries mmm good. Quinoa chili good, but a cup was plenty to fill me following poutine app. Hubby LOVED the Reubrn sandwich. & of course the choc chip cookie dough Shake was the best part of all! (After the beer of course ;)
