Description: A polished and energetic restaurant in River North with Italian and Mediterranean influences, Siena Tavern prides itself on offering dishes made in-house, from-scratch. The menu was curated by DineAmic Group's Chef/Partner, Fabio Viviani, also commonly known for his Celebrity Chef accolade as Bravo's "Top Chef Fan Favorite." The décor reflects a hybrid of a rustic Italian market, a fine dining restaurant and a modern, industrial tavern, bridging old world comfort and hospitality with a contemporary menu and design. When setting foot into this 10,000-square-foot eatery for lunch, dinner, happy hour, late night cocktails or weekend brunch, you can expect to taste the same fresh, from-scratch cooking across pastas, pizzas, mozzarellas, gelato and everything in between.

Went for lunch for my birthday. The third visit for us and we cannot stop wanting more. Everything we have had on the menu is outstanding. Great for couples, families, friends, any occasion. Don't be put off by the hard reservations. We have walked in, had a drink in the back and been seated in a reasonable time frame.

We most enjoyed the meatball (bigger than your fist, perfectly cooked all the way through) and the puffs-of-dough (lightly deep-fried, not greasy) appetizer with freshly pulled cheese and very thin, partially dried slices of ham, drizzled with honey and spiced oil. The delicate spherical doughnuts appetizer was served in the most delightful way: four balls (not glazed, but with sugar), were accompanied by 4 small pastry squirt-bottles with different fillings (raspberry/chianti, dark chocolate, pumpkin cream, and caramel) - best dessert to share I've had in Chicago. However, beware of the chocolate slice of pie/cake - it was like a solid piece of fudge (too much for us). The cocktails are excellent, and the kids at our table tried the virgin mojito - the first time we've ever gotten them to enjoy a strong flavor like mint. Amazing!

Love this place!! The atmosphere is upbeat. Ordered the gnocchi. The best gnocchi I've ever had!! Soft, like biting into small pillows. My sons spilt the porterhouse steak. Very well seasoned and juicy. The lamb was excellent, as well. Save room for dessert. Had a hard time choosing so ordered 3. Loved the donuts.

Okay, no matter what you THINK you want to order from the menu, what you REALLY want to order is the Spaghetti. Seriously...you do. I know spaghetti sounds like the most boring thing possible to order from an Italian restaurant, but Siena Tavern steps it up to a whole new level with their crab-filled, spicy spaghetti yumminess. Take my word for it, and order it....you can thank me later.

Besides the spaghetti-from-heaven, we also tried the Orecchiette pasta, and the Grilled Octopus and Coccoli appetizers. All very solid dishes. And for dessert, the Warm Chocolate Butter Cake, substituting salted caramel gelato for hazelnut. Fabulous finish to the meal. Overall, a solid 4.5 star dining experience, but because we had such wonderful service eating at the bar, I'm rounding up to 5 stars. (Besides....the spaghetti alone is worth 5+ stars!) Can't wait to return!

Great lively space for just drinks or food. The desserts especially are creative and very good! Staff was exceptional despite how busy they were.
