Luzzat serves some of the best Indian food in recent memory, with mama in the kitchen and daddy waiting tables.
You don't come here for the atmosphere. It's located in a small storefront, in the shadow of the Jarvis El stop, and sparsely decorated with about a dozen tables cozily placed. Although the space was tight, we didn't find it uncomfortable.
They have a decent sized menu, with both vegetarian and meat options. We ordered two entrees--the butter chicken and a lamb and garbanzo stew in a curry--and they were both absolutely delicious. The meal was served with rice, and we also ordered one of their several varieties of breads. We both enjoy spicy foods, but fortunately decided to order both of our entrees 'mild'--which was FAR from mild but perfect for us and spicy enough to enable us to drink the entire pitcher of water they gave us!
The food is obviously cooked fresh when you order it, and takes a while to arrive at your table. We didn't mind that, but if you're in a hurry this probably isn't the place to eat.
Luzzat is BYOB and did a very brisk take out business when we were there.
I would say that this place is a hidden gem, but when we dined there we got the last table...so obviously we're a little late to the Luzzat fan club.
Overall, delicious, authentic, plentiful, well priced food. We will most definitely be regular customers and can't stop sharing with our friends about our wonderful find.
