“Good food, favorite hangout ”
Reviewed October 14, 2013 via mobile

The sourdough pancakes were delicious as well as the flaky biscuits.
Breakfast spaghetti was interesting, but not a favorite of mine. Orange juice tasted fresh squeezed
Service was great but it was very noisy in there. Was definitely a favorite hangout for many people.

Thank smoothcj

“Get Your Goat!”
Reviewed October 14, 2013

Couldn't get into Girl & the Goat late on a Friday night (shocker!), so we decided to go across the street and try the younger sibling, Little Goat Diner, where the wait was only 5-10 minutes (and we could have been seated right away at a communal table, but we wanted a table outside). Any good diner, whether traditional, hipster, or upscale, should have a large and diverse menu, and LGD doesn't disappoint. Breakfast, sandwiches, main plates...lots of interesting choices and all available all day. Many items seem familiar, but with a twist: for instance, their version of sloppy joe is made with goat, not beef, and the french fries are made from potatoes that are smoked before they're sliced. Everything is fresh, they do a lot in-house (like the smoked corned beef for the hash and the reuben) and, again in true diner style, the portions are not skimpy (though, thankfully, not oversized either). Plus, there's a very nice beer and wine menu, some very interesting bottled non-alcoholic beverages (like Cheerwine and Blenheim's Spicy Gingerale) and a good selection of desserts. Even though this is a popular and somewhat trendy place, the staff is lacking in attitude. And if our server is any indication, they really know their stuff, which is nice considering how unusual the menu is. Just make sure, no matter what you order, that you ask for an explanation or you might wind up with a surprise (example, the "Choco Taco" dessert includes, among other things, sour cream ice cream).

I am a snob about sandwiches. I can honestly say the "Los Drowned" was one of the best sandwiches I've ever eaten. There is sauce to dip like in a reuben but you don't need it. I shared with my friend a couple different dishes and everything I ate had a very good balance in taste.

“Yum yum!”
Reviewed October 10, 2013

Dinner was a meal to remember! We had an unforgettable chefs meal and every bite was tasty. From the tasty crab dip to the scallops and the absolutely AMAZING dessert. Each bit was a treat and well deserved bite. The service in this restaurant was incredible and kudos to the talented and fun staff. I cannot wait to return to chicago to experience this restaurant again!
