Hotel is about 1 year old. Very clean. Convenient to things in the city. Great free breakfast. Great earplugs to drown out the sirens from the Firehouse across the street. Friendly staff. Highly recommend.

Hyatt North River was a great place to stay! Don't sleep in and miss the breakfast!!. We took another couple with us and all four of us agreed that we would stay at that Hyatt again... it's totally A+ and is convenient to every place we had on our long list of things to do and places to see. we couldn't have made a better choice than this particular hyatt to stay at. besides the great rooms and amazing breakfast... the staff couldn't be more helpful. we'll stay there on our next trip to chicago!! WHEN YOU GO TO CHICAGO: Take the 3 hour ''City Segway tour'' very early in your trip (we all agreed that particular company did our inital 'overview tour' of North Chicago exactly right! you get to ride through so many areas and go slowly past so much. Later on you will go back to see much more of what you were intoduced to!). Then go get 'The City Pass' (a real bargain)z; rent the Divvy bikes for a day, and ride along the north shore; visit the Lincoln Park Zoo, the Aquarium, the Field Museum; the Art institute; the John Hancock Observatory; the Skydeck; the Navy Pier. We loved the pot belly for lunches; oh! and get your hot dogs at on the street, not a 'recommended gold coast restaurant' (our wasted meal mistake). A tip: you'll save a bundle, if you stay off the Magniicent Mile!! We couldn't squeeze in a river cruise... there are many sights left for us to see on our next trip! Try to plan an evening to take the 'El' and go to the Apollo Theatre to see the ''Million Dollar Quartet''. Oh! and you'll be very happy, if you eat over near the Apollo before the show at the ''Zig Zag Kitchen'' (it's not a chain! it's reasonable! and we definitely wish we had it in our city)... the huge salmon dinner and pasta dishes were amazing, Enjoy your pizza at Giordano's and Lou Malnati's (just be prepared to wait at both places, tho). North Chicago in early August has beautiful flowers planted everywhere, the streets and the whole area is very clean and well-maintained. To think we almost went back to NYC or Boston! Our party of four were awestruck by this area of Chicago and enjoyed everything that we got to see and do!!

I was impressed by the details of the interior of the room. it made the room feel modern yet luxurious. there is a master switch for convenience and electricity savings. and room key is sensored so you don't need to stick or slide in. despite the size, the room utilized the space efficiently to make it seem spacious.

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights in the beginning of July 2014 for our "girlfriend's getaway", and we both were so happy I picked up this hotel.

Warm contemporary design, spacious and clean room, great beds, nice complementary breakfast and very friendly staff.

I guess I'm becoming a fun of Hyatt facilities. I stayed in couple Hyatt's and in couple of Hyatt Place's - they all were great. It looks like they are able to keep up with the high standards - no matter where they are: even airport hotels are very nice.

There were some downsides, but they were not so much up to the hotel, as up to general circumstances.

The parking was very expensive - but this unfortunately is common for downtown Chicago.

The breakfast area was very crowded, it was almost impossible to find place to sit and sometimes it was even hard to get the food, because it was busy, and the staff was not able to keep up sometimes. But we were not early birds - that might be the reason. Another reason was that it was 4th of July, and the hotel probably was almost full.

Overall - we had great experience, and I would highly recommend this hotel to anybody!

Love this hotel. We have stayed here several times now. The staff is outstanding. We found a subway nearby. Also right around the corner from Navy Pier free trolley. Breakfast offered a large variety. The rooms were bright with large windows. We found ice machine, etc. all in good working order. My only negative comment is the noise from the fire department across the street. The hotel did offer ear plugs in the room.

Room Tip: Request a room that doesn't face Clark Street.

We are in such a beautiful part of the city, and the large windows were selected for the purpose of maximizing the view. We are delighted that you noticed! We are within proximity of all of the iconic attractions of Chicago, as well as some of the best restaurants in the city. This also is why we provide earplugs in our guest rooms. The sound of all the action can be intrusive to some. You may always request a north-facing room. You will sacrifice a view, but you will gain tranquility.

Thank you again for your valuable feedback and for being our guest.

Although we're world travelers, we've never been to Chicago, so went for several days. We stayed at the Hyatt Place and it was very nice. The staff was wonderful, including all the valet staff. The hotel is new, clean, comfy beds, great location, and a good complimentary breakfast. After reading some of the reviews, we expected sirens at all hours - that was not the case. Granted, we stayed from Tuesday - Friday and there may have been less noise than on weekends. We are used to NYC and we often hear sirens there. So, don't let that keep you from coming here. Actually, we heard more sirens on the streets while walking around then we did in our room. The location was wonderful. There were lots of restaurants. If you want to splurge, try the Chicago Chophouse about 2 blocks away. We wanted to try a steak dinner in Chicago, but decided against the chains (Morton's, Ruth's Chris) since we can dine there at any time. The Chophouse was great - wonderful service and wonderful food. The Hyatt location is great - close to shopping, Mag Mile, Navy Pier, and walking distance (about 15 minutes) to the Loop and Millennium Park. If we returned, we'd likely stay here again. The only negative I can see is that I somehow expected a larger room. This is not the fault of the hotel, but of my perception. Although it notes there is a sitting area, fridge, etc., I thought it would be more of a suite than a room. There is only 1 TV (in the bedroom) and the "sitting area" is similar to a small table and chair in most hotel rooms. Unlike another reviewer, I thought the bathroom was small and it only had one sink. It's possible that we got a different room from some others, but I think this would be quite crowded for more than 2-3 people for more than 2 nights. But, nice and clean and new hotel with great staff and location.

It was the best hotel bed I have ever slept in. The staff were all attentive and service oriented. The amenities were superb and the rooms were very quiet and nicely decorated. I would consider this hotel a great value for the price.
