“Very disappointing!”
Reviewed July 1, 2014

This does not even come close to the Japanese Gardens in San Francisco and Portland, Oregon. Not worth the time it takes to find the place.

“Find peace & tranquility just behind the Museum of Science & Industry”
Reviewed January 20, 2014

If you're visiting Hyde Park for any reason, do yourself a favor and walk or bike back to the beautiful Osaka Garden. This garden is steeped in history going back to 1893 and continues to be a source of inspiration for those that visit it.

If you don't have a ton of time, you can walk through it quickly, but if you have the time, you may just want to enjoy it for a bit. Bring your camera...depending on the season, the bird watching here can be incredible. Of course the trees, plants & water features all come to life as well.

If you're spending a day at the Museum of Science & Industry, maybe consider bringing a picnic and take your lunch break here. If you enjoy nature, history and peaceful settings - you'll want to pay a visit.

If you're riding the Lake Front Trail, it's really easy to hop off the path at 57th St. and roll over here for a visit.

“Worth a short trip”
Reviewed November 4, 2013

Parked at La Rabida Hospital and biked over the Osaka. Bring a bike chain to lock up your bikes outside the gate. Amazed this place is in Chicago. I haven't met anyone else who has heard it is here. The atmosphere is relaxing, garden very pretty. Great place to take some beautiful photos or just relax.

“Tucked Away”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

Who knew that this existed?! Lovely place for a stroll if you are in the Jackson Park area. Located behind the Museum of Science and Industry, it is a tranquil place and beautifully maintained.

We loved this place that it was the setting of our engagement photos!

Note: These photos were taken with my HTC cell phone. I wish I brought my camera along....

“A Hidden Gem”
Reviewed August 23, 2012

The Osaka Gardens may be one of the most serene and peaceful places in all of Chicago. A great place to relax, reflect or mediate. Just beautiful.

I was there with a friend for a little over an hour because a thunderstorm came out of nowhere and we took shelter there. The pictures I've shared are from the storm. However, I was there when the sun was out as well. It is stunning regardless.
