“Great introduction to Chicago”
Reviewed June 20, 2012

My husband and I just returned home from a 5 night trip to Chicago. Having never been there before I signed up for the Greeter program which I found online on Trip Advisor. We only planned the trip a few weeks before (there was a "deal" on the flight), but the Greeter responded quickly. On our first morning, we spent about 3 hours with Nancy, with her showing us many highlights and some hidden gems. She also added her own information or history to what we were seeing and answered any questions. It just felt like you were with a friend who was showing you her city which she obviously loved. She gave us ideas of other places to explore on our own which we did the following days. She also went with us to buy our Chicago Architectural river cruise tickets (another "must do"). We did not use the CTA pass that day, but we certainly did the next day which was great.

We had a great tour with Lance. He had a great personality and was really knowledgeable. Our group had the best time and I would highly recommend signing up for the tour.

“Makes me love Chicago even more!”
Reviewed June 18, 2012

We have been to Chicago a few times and had done most of the touristy things, we chose "greeter's choice" because wanted a tour only a real Chicagoan could give us. We toured the city on foot, hearing little known facts about the architecture and history, ending up in one of the suburbs at a little Italian restaurant where we spent a couple of hours enjoying the world pass by.
Highly recommend if you want to know the city better!

“Great program”
Reviewed June 17, 2012

Our guide was John and he was wonderful. To see Chicago through the eyes of a resident means that you go to places that are not on the daily tours and you gain information about a myriad of topics. To have a program like this that is free to visitors is a credit to the city and the cultural center. I have already written thank yous to the center and John, but am happy to post here as well since this is a wonderful service!

“Biking Tour of Chicago”
Reviewed June 11, 2012

Being a younge couple visiting Chicago from Boston we definitley didn't want alot of history and long walks especially on a 80 degreee hot June day. We had requested a biking tour as an option in our online evaluation and our guide was up for the challenge being a valid biker himself. So we rented bikes and helmets from a local vendor (all completely FREE of charge). Our tour included a scenic lake city ride along the lake, through several ethinic neighborhoods, OZ Park (to commemorate the Wisard of OZ) and to Lincoln Park. Being biker riders ourselves this was PERFECT, by far one of the best things we did in Chicago. I wish they would come to Boston now! Our guide Gary was fantastic and even worked a full time job but volenteered on the weekends, which we found to be true dedication.
