We had dinner downtown and my colleagues wanted to see Millennium Park. We walked across Michigan Avenue near “The Bean”. Even though it was a warm week night the park was packed. The Grant Park Music Festival was going on so the concert area was full. Many people were in the fountains waiting for the water to spray out and many others were walking around and under the massive sculpture commonly referred to as “the Bean.”

I was living in Chicago when they started to build the park over the exposed railroad tracks. I will say that this is one thing that the city of Chicago did really well...even though it was over budget.

If you happen to be in the area this is a great place to visit, but be aware that it is also a big tourist attraction so if you are a “local” you may be a little put off.

The park is beautiful, the bean was delightful to see, very clean and tidy. We arrived and there was the chicago food festival, very colourful and entertaining

We visited 4th of July weekend so this probably isn’t a fair assessment. There were hoards of people there and it was a very hot day. Went to see the bean sculpture and left.

Millennium Park is everything you want in an urban park. It has water, cool attractions, beautiful gardens, and activities. I have to take a star off though because the area around the cloud gate is in need of repair. The gem of the city should be maintained regularly and should not be left in an hazardous condition.
