As with most of the restaurants in the business district (The Loop) area, this location is likely not open on the weekends, so really your option (as a visitor) would be to visit during the week; a local - great business lunch spot or lunch spot with friends. Great location, but odd entrance (a big black door in the bottom of an office building) so it's easy to overlook. Fabulously large wine & beer list with a nice menu of fresh & pleasing features. I had a wonderful seasonal salad with fresh burrata cheese and loved every bite. Quick service with a pleasant (not the best) view of the river makes this a good choice for a lunch spot in the Loop. Definitely worth a look / try if you are looking for something casual yet slightly unique in the area.

We went to this place and used a travelzoo voucher for 2 wine flights and cheese and salames platter. The flights had 3 wines each and 3 small cheeses samples and some hams and salames.
With the travelzoo voucher is a good price but without that it is pricey. It was still chilly outside to have the patio open which has a river view.

My group of co-workers are shoppers, foodies, and wine lovers. We always try to go to new restaurants whenever possible. So when a groupon was offered for Rittergut for 4 wine flights and appetizer, we thought what a great way to try a new wine bar.

The wine bar is located in an office building. However, as soon as you walk through the door, the setting was very comfortable with a view of the river. The group was excited. However, when we sat down and told the server we had a group on, the atmosphere changed. The waitress, huffed away with the groupon coupon. She told us she would be right back. When she came back all she said when she came back was we get 4 flights, 3 cheeses, and 3 meats. She didn't tell us about any of the other selections, or offerings on the menu.

When one of my friends asked which wine flights, the waitress was snippy and said in the place on the menu that said flights. OK??? They she just left. She didn't come back until we flagged her down to give her our drinks and food order.

Honestly, we just wanted to drink our wines and appetizers and go somewhere else. The food ands drinks were not good enough to put up with the attitude.

We just wanted to find a new place where us ladies to go out and enough good company, good food, and good wine. So in the future, we will take our good company elsewhere since there are many other wine bars better at treating customers with better food and better selection of wines.

This is my fourth visit to this wine/tapas bar. Unfortunately, the food was very disappointing (I have had three meals there previously). My dining companion had the grilled cheese and tomato soup offering. To call what she had "grilled cheese" was very misleading. It was a slice of bread, grilled on one side with a panini press, and then "sprinkled" with grated cheese toasted under a broiler. We were expecting a sandwich with cheese that stretched from the bread to the mouth. I had the turkey and brie sandwich. It was disappointing as the turkey was very dry, not too much cheese, and a lot of bread! The soups, however, were hot and delicious. This experience has affected my attitude about returning to this establishment.

Loved the setting right on the river. Our waiter Chris was great. Had some wonderful wines and Tapas, very interesting menu. Definetly worth trying.
