I think that there is an arms race of customer service being waged in Chicago right now between The Peninsula and The Waldorf. The Pen has always been a wonderful wonderful place (the best in Chicago and one of the best anywhere for a long time) but, in recent years, was bumped off the top spot by The Elysian/The Waldorf. During the stay it was clear that someone knew that we'd been staying at The Elysian as of late and every effort was made to win us back. Fore example, we ate lunch in the lobby before a meeting and our food was a bit late (it was probably our fault for being crunched for time etc.) and that night a bottle of nice champagne and wonderful chocolates with a note of apology appeared in our room. As another example, we like it cold in the room at night and somehow they have been paying enough attention to that that the thermostat was set each night to how we like it. All very impressive and I can't wait to return next weekend with two of our Children for a Chicago weekend.

I stayed at The Four Seasons in Chicago for 2 nights in November and my only regret was that it wasn't 2 weeks. It is truly best in class. From the beautiful lobby which houses a fabulous restaurant and quintessential bar, to the beautifully appointed rooms, this hotel earns top ratings across the board. The Peninsula is an iconic global brand with no greater example of perfection than the Peninsula Chicago.

This is the second time I have stayed at the Penninsula and it was great. Love the location. Right down the street from Roy's Restaurant and a close and enjoyable walk to Whole Foods Market. It was cold in Chicago when I went so the walk was very cold, but that is not the Penninsula's fault. Just beautiful hotel. Love it.

We stayed at the Peninsula in early December for a quick getaway weekend. Not much more I can add here beyond what other positive reviewers had to stay, but wanted to add if you are traveling with children to let them know when you make your reservation.

Upon returning to our room the first night, our girls found two little Christmas teddy bears, a Peninsula makeup bag filled with soaps, gels, toothbrush, floss, and kid toothpaste, and a fun dessert tray with popcorn, cookies, gummy bears, jello, water, and nuts and fruit for the adults. This hotel is beautiful and treats kids wonderfully. My girls thought it was very fun and felt special from the treatment they were given by hotel employees. The pool and hot tub didn't disappoint, and the location is superb. Peninsula makes it hard to stay elsewhere - will return.

this has to be one of the very finest hotels anywhere in the world! the staff, rooms and food is just over the top! the valet seems to remember everyone when they have a return visit. You will never go wrong here! the rooms are extremely quiet and hard to beat for sleep quality!

just stayed for 5 nights with my husband. the location and service were excellent. the hotel starts above street level so 2 elevators are necessary to get to your room. check in was very simple. the room was spacious for 2 people. the decor was pleasant and understated. i found the bathroom to be well appointed, but the layout was a little odd. the water closet and the shower had glass doors and were positioned opposite each other, just at the entrance to the bathroom. this made things a little awkward as the 2 doors could hit each other and also block the bathroom entrance. the king bed we had was very comfortable. there was a console on the nightstand which had convenient controls on it.
my only 1 real complaint is that the towels, generously sized, were very coarse and abrasive. they were not the soft thick towels that i would expect from this hotel. i mentioned it to the front desk, and the housekeeper left even more towels in my bathroom. unfortunately, they were all of the same quality as the ones i complained about. the towels felt like super large bath mats. i know this may be picky, but i have had much softer towels at much cheaper hotels/motels.
the concierge was quite helpful and helped with a dinner reservation. everyone at the hotel was quite pleasant and helpful and cheerful. there is free coffee and tea in the mornings near the front desk which was generous. the spa was quite nice with a great workout room. exercise classes were offered gratis, and the lap pool was spectacular. i did not eat at the hotel, but the main restaurant appeared quite pleasant. the overall ambience was refined and reserved.
the location is quite convenient to shopping and good restaurants. two great pizza places are within 1-2 blocks. we walked to second city as well as the cadillac theater to see les miserables.

Room Tip: rooms facing michigan avenue will be noisier than others but afford a nicer view. our 10th floor vi...

Dear Asie,

Thank you for choosing to stay at The Peninsula during your recent visit to Chicago. We appreciate you taking the time to offer your feedback regarding your stay and providing insight about your accommodations, location, fitness center and spa. I was very sorry to hear you were unhappy with the towels at the hotel and they were not softer. I have addressed this issue with our Housekeeping Department as well as our laundry service. We expect the towels to be plush and as soft as possible, so this feedback is very important to us.

I do hope we will have the chance to welcome you back to The Peninsula Chicago soon.

Once you stay at a Peninsula hotel, you will not want to stay anywhere else. The brand is synonymous with excellence but primarily located in urban settings/cities...the Peninsula Chicago is consistently rated one of the top hotels in the USA. The rooms are luxurious and the staff is exactingly accommodating. Located on Michigan Avenue, the hotel is literally in the middle of everything: museums, restaurants, shopping and the lakefront. Because we travel regularly with our children, I feel the hotel is family friendly but sophisticated enough that it is not for every family.
The health club and roof top pool are a treat year round and this visit I had a chance to take some exercise classes that were more challenging than any I have tried -ever.

Room Tip: I always ask to see my room before I have our bags delivered. There are some amazing views to be had...
